    Hi bydusk,

I tried about 1000-2000 IUs of D3. There are many who will claim certain types of D3 are better than others and some can make you feel worse than others.

I did notice pain and I tried going off for the last 48-72 hours. I did not notice a difference for at least 2 days. Mind you I was using magnesium glycinate in tandem or exclusively so it is hard to say which one was causing what.

I have had pain that seemed like it was in my bones in my arms and legs but I am not sure that had to do with sitting around.

I have heard of cases where people have had side effects of D supplements.

How much are you taking and how many times (per day/week)?

    Are you taking other supplements?

What are you taking it for?

    Thanks!

      it's probably the Magnesium

the magnesium glycinate isn't the best form of magnesium regardless the company all claim they are good but you can always choose whats best for you budget wise and recommendation wise

you didn't say why are u taking supplements anyway ? are you deficiet ?

pardon me for asking but it's not really recomended to supplement yourself without Dr. advice

I take 5000iu a day just to maintain in the normal range. You would have to take a pretty seriously high amount to be toxic and have adverse side effects. It's no problem to supplement 2000iu without a doctor's recommendation, and no most people do not get enough vitamin d on their own without supplementation so it good you are. Bone pain is a symptom of vitamin d deficiency.

The reason why you shouldn't supplement your self unless neede is that the body stores and stores and stores all what u take

you have to get exposed to the sun to make it active vitamin D otherwise it'll accumulate in your body

what i do is take the test every six months to make sure I maintain levels

According to the Vitamin D council you would need to take 10000iu a day for months to reach toxic levels. People in the UK are not exposed to sufficient UV rays to make vitamin D for 50% of the year. Obviously if you have risk factors for hypercalcemia you should consult a doctor. But the vitamin d council is very clear that supplementing 1000-2000iu a day is fine for the majority of people.
