Side effects

I was taking 150mg sertraline last year for various family/health problems and started feeling pretty good. Then had a row with my daughter and we didn't speak for 3 months. After we made up mid-March I felt then that all the stress was coming out and my GP increased my dose to 200mg last week....this is day6! I find my appetite good, I don't have insomnia, dry mouth or bowel problems, but the shaky feelings are dreadful, but seem to subside about 2.30pm each day. Does anyone else feel worst in the morning and feel a bit better as the day goes on?

Mornings are the worst time for me - wake up overwhelmed with anxiety. You are definitely not alone in experiencing this on sertraline, and quite fortunate that you don't exhibit other side effects.

from what i have read, any increase unfortunately often comes with a reappearance of the side effects so it is a question of time.

Good luck and i hope you have a better day today than you did yesterday.

Mornings are the worst time for me also. I've had enough though.

I'm sick of worrying myself to death on a daily basis and genuinely believe my friends and family would be better off without me.

Ive only been on this forum for a short period of time but it has helped me alot and I thank everyone.

I hope everyone finds peace from their demons. Anxiety and Depression is a curse. Sadly i could not shake either.

John.....please keep a positive attitude.  You'll be glad you did it for yourself, family and friends.  If you feel so low you MUST tell your doctor as soon as possible. Please remember we are all here to support each other

Thanks CG1964.....I'm making sure I get out every day and doing the things I would want to do.  I've had anxiety/depression before, and I know we do get better

Hey John, I know that feeling and thought process. It's amazing what we think in this state of mind, to think that people close to us just can't be bothered and are thinking's that we are a waste of space is far from the truth. So many people have so much on their plate that they don't have time to think too much about us but when they do it ain't as bad as we always think. Our minds can betray us and always keep that in mind, take control. All the best John,be strong, I'm thinking good thoughts for you ☺

Absolutely!  John, you must remember we are ALL suffering horrendous side effects, but our bodies have to get used to Sertraline and then it calms us which will make most of us happy for starters, then it lifts our mood and we feel like we are coping again.  I've been through anxiety and depression about seven times now.....I know the score, but I know I will get through it.  Yes, it does feel unbearable at times, and your doc can prescribe for your anxious feelings.

Thankyou all so much for your support. Yesterday was probably the worst i have experienced in my adult life. Thing's came pretty close to the wire but rather than do something stupid, i dragged myself to my GP. She has taken me off Sertraline and moved me onto Floexitine i think it's called and given me some sleeping tablets.

I'm still not great today but at least I don't have the side effects of Sert to deal with.

Thank you all again for your support and kind messages. That really really helped!!

Hi john, how long were you on the sertraline for? it took me 6 weeks for it to work, plenty of ups and downs on the way. for the first 2 weeks not much at all, apart from less negative thoughts. Overtime it does work for most.

If replies dont come, simply start a new discussion.

Be strong and all the best!
