I was on this horrible medication for only 5 days and stopped because I had horrible shaking in my hands. it's been one week and a half that my life is not the same. The shakes are still here, I have spams and my skin is crawling and now I wake up in the middle of the night with my heart racing and in the morning too,I feel better as soon as I move. I just want this to go away, and to have my life back. I only took 100mg in the morning and at night for 5 days.Help me, please!

I'm so sorry you are going through this!!! This medication attaches to your brain to function so you cannot get off cold turkey. You should call your doctor about the side effects you had at such a low dose. Only 200 mg per day? Since you are very sensitive to the medication, you may need to come off it slowly. You may need to take 100 mg, so you are cutting down by 50% instead of all of it to see if that relieves some of the side effects? 50% may be too fast of a taper. Best to call your doctor. He might be able to give you something to help with withdrawals coming off it. Best wishes to you!

I did call him last week when the side effects started, and he wanted me to try lyrica, but I didn't want to because I don't want to this to go on. I have no idea what to do. This happened to you shammah?

I was only on 100 mg and had severe side effects from only that dose. I tried to stop taking it cold turkey and was so jittery inside, confusion, stuttering, could not think, shaking. I called the doctor and he said to taper off and to take my dose. It stopped everything so abruptly that my heart skipped a beat. It took me 6 months to taper off 100 mg, tapering down by 10 mg every 3 weeks. I've been off it now 3 weeks and have constant buzzing in my head, feeling dizzy off and on and fatigue. This is a powerful drug with horrible side effects. What were you taking this medication for? I was taking it for anxiety.. but it caused more anxiety being on it than before I started it.  : \

Oh my gosh!! This can't be be happening to me. About a month ago I stated having pain in my feet like burning sensation.went to the doctor and he gave this promising that I wouldn't have any side affects. I can't believe that happened.

That's because the information from the manufacture that comes with the medication says that it's easy to get on and off with little to no side effects so doctors feel good about prescribing it. The psychiatrist who gave this to me said he never had a problem with any clients on it. However... there is site after site after site of patients with severe side effects. They need to be more cautious in prescribing it... starting with a low dose and making sure the patient does not have a bad reaction to it before uping the dose.

Have you heard that taking magnesium supplements helps? I'm taking Epsom salt baths and mouthwash but doesn't seem to be helping? Have you tried any of these?

My pharmacist told me not to use magnesium! I did do Epson salt baths but it did nothing for me.

It might work on some people.

Sorry to say nothing. I was in withdrawal for a week before I figured out what was wrong thought I had s bad case of the flu! My Rheumatoligist said there were NO withdrawals he knew of?? Wrong.

Dr said its taken me so long because of the length of time I was on it and the dose

Was put on it for oste arthritis of knees & feet. Did not help with pain all it did was make me sleep that's why I wanted off of it,!

I was on 3200 for 6 months. Dr told me to drop to 1600 for 5 days. Then 800 for 5 days then quit. O M G. That was Feb 1 St I am still in withdrawal.

Now main issue is stomach and I am praying its finally getting better. Feb. I never left the house at all. Sleeplessness, anxiety, heart racing. Felt like an elephant setting on my chest

My family Dr was upset that my Rheumatoligist took me off so quickly she said it should of been a very slow taper and should of taken months

So please do it very very slowly.

Started to take gabapentin 2 wks ago due to auto accident. In the beginning, other than sleepy was ok. Now having terrible reactions. Feel faint, heart pounding, BP drops very low and think blood sugar too. Read your post, I did have shakiness of hands also, however, that has stopped. I now have major side effects that are scary. You mentioned spasms  ... such as ?    I too was taking same dose, now taking 1, 100 mg cap once a day. Will take 1/2 next 4-5 days and then go completely off med. Hope to be normal again. Have you ckd with your Dr re reactions?
