Side effects from increasing to 40mg or permanent?

I increased to 40mg about a week now. Was on 30mg for five weeks, and 20 before that for years.

First time I had to come up this high.

The past few days I’ve been so tired and unmotivated. Even my brain feels lazy. I’m well ready to go to bed at 10pm, but won’t get up the next day till 11pm. I can tolerate this a lot more than anxiety, but I most certainly wouldn’t be able to live like. I’ve always noticed I’ve felt a bit sluggish taking citalopram throughout the years but nothing unbearable.

I’m just worried the 40mg is going to make this 10x worse or is it just a side effect from increasing?

Hi Nina i suspect its side effects from upping the dose and will go away after time but maybe talk to your doc? I have to say it does sound a lot better than anxiety but get that it would be hard to function like that all the time. It may be that you just need to be on it a little while to deal with the anxiety and then you can go back down. Also maybe talk to doc about adding in buspirone? Apparently it works well to reinvigorate SSRIs that have stopped working so well.

Thank you! I will keep that one in mind.

It kind of comes and goes, at times I’ll have a bit more energy. Then there’s moments I’m just a zombie.

I’ll take the 40’s a few more weeks and see if it goes away, if not I’ll discuss something else with my doctor.
