Shelby, I am on week 6 and I am so tired that all I do is lay on the sofa. my doctor is aware and wants me to hang in there. I am really depressed now, more than before.

im right there with you..... im just into week 4 and the anxiety some mornings is just off the charts for me. My Dr gave me inderal ( beta blocker) to help, but some mornings 10 mg does not seem like enough for me, so i have messaged her to see if i can take more. The issue i have with the anxiety is that i have no coping skills yet to deal with it, so i just sit and shake and cry.... anxiety is a new beast i have never had before in my life, so its completely ruined me..... and my stomach..... between the nausea and diarrhea , I cant keep weight on. I was told by the psychiatrist i saw to use magnesium lotion, and vitamin D, and also some B6. Are you sleeping at all??? do you get any exercise?? do you have a light box?? I am sleeping pretty well now vs 3 weeks ago, and some days i have an appetite, some not. I have a good friend that told me that the reason i have one good day and the next is crap is because i am using up all my seratonin in one day and there is nothing left in reserves for the next day, so that made sense to me. I honestly thought this would be like the first time i started on Prozac and i would have little to no side effects..... boy was i wrong..... the first time i started i was on 5 or 10 mg to start.... not 20..... i also was much younger and had not yet gone through menopause, so that coupled with everything else has made this much harder for me this time around. The psychiatrist did say that is would take 4-6 weeks, even though i had already been on it for so many years.... and i do remember crying when i heard that. Im sure you feel the same way i do right now..... like im hanging in limbo, just waiting to start my life again, but just cannot reach the gas pedal on the car...... its a horrible feeling, but i do know that it will get better because i have days when i feel almost normal.... and thats a good sign the prozac is working. Mornings are the worst for me.... and by about 2 pm I do feel better.....so i just need to power through the mornings knowing that at some point, there will be less to no anxiety issues and maybe then i can go on with my life..... as will you...❤

these side effects are tough . they can come and go anytime . 3 weeks is still very early .

i took these ssris for anxiety and when you start , one side effect is more anxiety and then more side effects which causes me more anxiety. thats alot of anxiety!

it takes much time we have to be patient - to get better and waiting for side effects to go away. most side effects do go away. or ease . unfortunately with these meds you have to endure these side effects for some time . you think its getting worse but dont give up on med if you can stand the side effects. it should pass. everyone is different. if its too bad talk to you dr. if you change to another med or change dose you will be starting over again with side effects and time till you get better .

when drs say 4 to 6 weeks till getting better - change that to 4 to 6 months.

it could be 2 months or 9 months from what ive read on here real people real experiences . everybody is different.

also understanding what is happening to you helps. katecogs a member on here has really helped me with all this. she has good advice on books and a website and blog. search some of her posts . she is very encouraging and knowledgable !

    hang in there!

Anyone get bottom of back aches worse with prozac, or joint pain

i have lower back pain which helped me acquire anxiety to start with.

they way i understand it is you will have many aches , pains emotions , this and that etc as you body adjust to the meds .

i did have more anxiety starting these meds and that caused muscle tensing which caused neck and back aches.
