Side Effects of Citalopram

Posted , 5 users are following.

Hi, i have taken 10mg of citralopram for a week and been on 20mg for a further week, i feel unsteady on my feet (almost as if i am on a boat in rough sea).I have sweaty hands and nose, can't ejaculate and feel very anxious. When do these side effects decrease? or do they. My mood has improved I.E i don't think anxious but my body is reacting differently. I guess i'm asking does it get better!

    Hiya Stevieg

All the side effects you are having are normal. Don't worry about it. When I first started with Citalopram I was on 20mg a day and it took about 6 weeks for the side effects to stop & my mood to improve. I remember drifting off into my own little world. People at work would have to shout at me to snap me out of it. Try not to worry about it. It will get better.

Dear Stevie, I have been taking 10mg for about 2mths and I know exactly what you are going through. I suffered a few panic attacks at work.I even had to leave my desk and get fresh air as it was so uncomfortable, touch wood these have passed and I have only had one since the first week. I used to be in my own world at first, daydreaming.lack of concentration and constant yawning!!still am!!

Please stick with it as I cannot stop smiling and things at work that would have stressed me out before really do not bother me anymore,so that is a good sign!!!

You will feel better, trust me and the all the other 1000's of sufferers that are on this drug too,I am sure they will agree!!!

    smile

THANK YOU EVERYONE,AT LEAST I DON'T FEEL AS IF I AM ON MY OWN.sTILL FEEL AS IF I AM BOBBING AROUND ON A CORK IN THE SEA AND GET THE ODD ELECTRICL SENSATION IN MY CHEST WHICH IS A CONCERN. hOWEVER I HOPE ITS JUST THE ANXIETY.ANYONE ELSE HAD LITTLE SHOCKS IN THE CHEST AREA?

I haven't had the shocks in the chest area... Although have a heart arrythmia, which my doctor says is harmless and stress/alcohol/caffeine-related... Nothing to do with the medicine, as far as I'm aware. However, I HAVE had little 'shocks' in the head... The first time I was on these, I usually took them in the morning... If I missed it, and went until the evening without one, I'd start getting odd little 'shocks' (very mild), and feel dizzy. So perhaps something similar?

If you're particularly worried - especially since it's the chest area - I'd advise you to speak to your doctor ASAP. Better safe than sorry.

Hope you feel better soon x
