side effects of Humira and Cimzia

I have been on Cimzia biologic for 11 months and the past 6 wks or more I have experienced shortness of breath, palpitations and on and off pain in my chest. This happened with Humira but that was by the 3rd dose and I was having chest pain, constant palpitations no shortness of breath. So again I am seeing a cardiologist and wearing a monitor to check my heart rate for 2 wks. I really believe it's a side effect of the biologic and the rheum. doesn't think so. He suggested Remicade infusion next, but that is something that really scares me. I am 70 and more side effects on all the drugs after age 65 according to the drug literature. Live in the U.S so able to get biologics since employment ins. will pay. Anyone have chest pain, shortness of breath , palp. with a biologic? I also have crohn's disease so only 3 drugs are on the list for the 2 conditions

Hi im sorry that your having so many health issues possibly down to your medication, I have RA also so I know just having to cope with that is bad enough without the added problems that are present, strange thing you also have crone's and I have UC, I personally don't deal well with meds so I chose to steer clear of them, I believe I have actually done better without than my friends who take a multitude of different ones which over the years they have had to change to try to become at least moderately healthy.
Not always successfully, I think you should talk to your rheumatology dept before you take any steps but do it soon

thanks, Alexandria. Unfortunately inflammatory bowel conditions can go along with RA. I am going to try and go awhile without specific RA drugs and see how I do. But I have a feeling it won't be good
Have started to be much more careful with diet but it is hard. I have talked to rheum. dept and have seen cardio doc .

My husband has RA along with several other health problems and had only had one injection of the biologic Orencia when he fell and broke his ankle. We discontinued that med for now because it can hinder wound healing and his fracture was a compound one so it will be a while before it heals. However, he has had 4 Remicade transfusions and did fine with them. No side effects at all. He has also tried a couple RX's to help his RA and could not take those past a few days before some reactions began. He has never had palpitations, though. I just wanted to relay to you his experience with remicade andbit did seem to help some with the pain and swelling, just not enough to continue with it.

When he gets back to the Orencia hopefully he will have a good response
