Hi
All the medication they gave me left me feeling like this. For the first 10 days I was totally miserable. No appetite and fed up. At first I cut it all down. Then at day 10 stopped the lot except paracetamol. Within 2 days I was and have continued to feel 100% better. I still have occasional pain which is natural given that everything has to heal.
A friend recommended a homeopathic remedy called Arnica to aid healing. I didn't believe in homeopathic. Have to say after taking it for nearly a week I'm impressed so a message there. Don't knock it till you try it lol.
Onwards and upwards friend and hope you are feeling much better soon. Heavy medication doesn't agree with everyone. X

Hi Sandra
I don't like taking medication it always seems to upset me. In the hospital they gave me tramadol but after 2 days of being sick after a meal I refused to take it and they just gave me paracetamol. Because I have had a nerve problem with my foot since the op, I went to my doctor who
told me there was nothing they could do he prescribed me codeine to
take with the paracetamol. After a time the pain wasn't easing and I even
tried alternative therapy. I stopped taking the prescribed medicine and I'm waiting for a nerve conduction test.
I agree with the previous post about trying alternative therapies and I hope you get some relief with it.
All the best Brenda C

hi dalmatian,
when was your surgery?
what pain medication are you taking ....
I had to self-inject fragmin in belly for 6 weeks (twice )and hated it ...😮
those numerous trips to the toilet are part of the fluid build hip around injuries..
maybe you could call your doctor?
please let us know how you're getting on okay?
Big warm hug

Hi Renee
my painkillers are paracetamol naproxen and codeine phosphate. The rivaroxaban is what they've given me to prevent blood clots but they're making me feel like I've got an upset stomach all the time

I had a different blood thinner to inject and it gave me HORRENDOUS nightmares. Don't remember it's name. Every drug has side effects unfortunately

Hi dalmation,
checking in with you .... To be honest, I don't know if my blood thinning medication made me sick to my stomach - Like you I was on other meds as well and you are still early days in recovery ----
feel better soon

As I understand it, this is a blood thinner. I was prescribed heparin injections - some similar reactions though nit as horrible this time though (2nd thr).
Blood clots have such serious consequences, that stopping these w/o medical advice seems a drastic step. I would call to see if your surgeon/GP would consider an alternative.
Re toilet runs - as Renée notes, this due in part to the lymphatic system trying to flush out the swelling from the surgery. I also learned that pregabalin (prescribed for nerve pain in first 2 weeks) can cause loss of bladder control which aggravates this problem. Thankfully I am past the worst of this (week 3).
Wishing you an easier time of it soon - it gets much easier as the swelling eases and we get more mobile.
Good luck.

Hi Dalmatian
Yep, I took Rivaroxaban. I developed a hematoma when I had my surgery so I had to go on antibiotics because it was inflamed, I thought it was those that was causing my nausea & vomiting but it wasn't, it was the Rivaroxaban! My nausea literally stopped the day after I finished taking them. It's strange because I had them in April with my 1st thr and didn't have a problem with them. I'm wondering if the antibiotics didnt work well with them. Maybe you could go to your docs to see if you could get an alternative blood thinner that's suits you better because 4 weeks is a very long time to be feeling ill when you are dealing with a new hip as well.
