    Hi iris

yes it was really bad to start but after 2 weeks it has subsided. My worst symptom was horrendous anxiety so compared to that loose bowels seemed insignificant.

You'll be fine. Don't worry. I'm actually starting to feel better after 4 weeks on this a/d. Good luck. X

Thanks for your quick reply.......yes the anxiety was horrible. I went on a 2hour bus journey yesterday and had to take Imodium before I left home!!!!  My main symptom left now is the horrible knotted feeling in the upper abdomen, which demotivated me. I am doing more than I was a month ago.  I had my dose increased 4 weeks ago too.  Which symptoms do you still have?

My main problem is I just feel so demotivated to do anything. I've cancelled meetings with friends I love & I hate myself for that but I guess you just have to listen to your body. If you had flu you'd be laid up in bed. So what's the difference. Mental illnesses are just as bad as physical illnesses. Don't beat yourself up. Easier said than done. I do feel better though on a daily basis. Just take each day as it comes & don't have any great expectations of yourself   There are some great positive reviews of this a/d. That keeps me going. Take strength from that & im sour after 6/8 weeks all will be rosy. Much love. X

I've had a rotten year...my brother died, I was in NZ with my son, and couldn't get back for funeral.  Then in August I was resuscitated in an ambulance....blood clots on lungs. In Nov had big row with daughter and we didn't speak for 3 months.  When we did start speaking again, all my stress came out......reactive depression

    Hi Iris!

I monitor this blog to watch for people who experience this symptom.  My father was on this medication for 2 months and had terrible diarrhea.  Because he has been hurt and was on a variety of new meds, we did not make the connection to Sertraline.  In the meantime, he was hospitalized with acute diarrhea.  They released him without finding the source.  I found this blog and someone helped me realize that Sertraline was causing my father's symptoms.  What a relief!  Many people find symptoms last only a short time, but if they don't go away, please contact your doctor.  An alternative med may be better for you.  Wishing you the best!
