Side effects of Spironolactone

Posted , 2 users are following.

I have so many sensitivities from Hypertension medication and so had to settle for a beta blocker and half spironolactone to control my blood pressure , I had an MI and pacemaker implant 3 years ago and have had no real issues since , last week i had an angina attack which was horrible , I saw my Dr and she has referred me to the fast track clinic , i decided to try to take another tablet of spironolactone to keep my BP down as far as i could , after two days i developed a cough and sore throat and wondered if this is a side effect of the tablet ? I had to stop Ramapril because of a 24 hr cough 2 years ago !

I think that coughing is one of the commonest side effects of BP meds and I cannot imagine that their are many that do not have any.

I am sorry that you have been suffering with medication issues and angina

Maybe look up a BP medication that carries less severe effects.

My partner tried quite a few and eventually stayed on enalapril and does OK on them, he does still have a bout of coughing now and then but it's better than it has been.

He does try everything else as well to keep his BP controlled as well like exercise and weight as well as diet.
