Side effects of tamoxifen

Ive started taking tamoxifen for my breast cancer about 7 weeks. Since taking it I have on at least five maybe six occasions had bouts of nausea and slight dizziness and generally feeling unwell along with tummy pain as if I have upset stomach, but no other symptoms. These episodes can last for a day or so although the first one lasted for a week and started about a week after I started taking the tamoxifen.
I am not sure if it related to the tamoxifen or just coincidence but I didnt get it beforehand.
has anyone experienced this while on tamoxifen? If so did it ease up eventually as it does get me down? Thanks

Nausea can be worse if you are having radiotherapy, but this is a fairly common side effect of Tamoxifen. Do let your doctor know about the nausea as there are anti sickness medicines you can be given

Hi Maddy,
While I didn't get it on Tamoxifen, it occurs in approximately 5% of the individuals taking it. I quickly researched other similar meds, aromatase inhibitors, but statistically, they cause nauseated in 17% percent of the individuals.
As Tamoxifen is necessary for your treatment of Estrogen positive breast cancer, ask your medical oncologist for Zofran to ease the nausea.
You don't have to suffer.
I am sorry you are having issues. Please reach out to me if you have any more questions. I am four years out from my diagnosis and surgery, and doing well. I am a Nurse Practitioner in the States.

Hiya thanks so much for that I was wondering whether i could ask my doc for zofran. i did have ondansetron when i was on my chemo as it made me feel sick in the same way as i do now. i think that is the same as zofran.
i had breast cancer 2016-2017. i was on letrozole for 2 years but then started some unpleasant bladder infections and stuff and they eased up after the doc changed my drug to tamoxifen. i guess there are side effects to all these drugs.
congrats on being clear for 4 years yhaya hood to hear! i had a mmamogram yesterday and results in two weeks. fingers crossed i am still clear. Many thanks. x

should have been the word "nausea," not nauseated
