Side effects of Zoloft. When to realize it's not for you?

Posted , 4 users are following.

I am one year post partum. I have been fine until one day I felt this blanket of depression come over me and have not felt myself since. My primary care prescribed Zolft as it is the preferred SSRI for breastfeeding. I am 14 days into medication and I have several side effects. I have a weird pressure sensation in my head that comes and goes, dizziness, increased anxiety, fatigue and poor concentration. How much longer do I suffer these side effects before I determine that Zoloft just isn't for me? Please help!

Normally, around 8 weeks, but can be anything from 2 weeks to 13 weeks.

I would suggest discussing with a Doctor as the head feeling is horrible and mine only went away after an increase in dosage.

I have switched from Sertraline to Venlafaxine as I was on the highest dose for Sert, and still had extreme low periods.

Thanks for your reply Kage100. The head feeling is the worst. I keep wondering if I have a brain tumor. That may sound silly but I take the smallest of symptoms and turn them into something catastrophic. I can't continue to feel like this. I feel like I'm losing my mind. I put a call into the doctor to see if there is an alternative.

The head feeling is like "brain zaps". You might need an increase, that worked for me.

Also dizziness? All normal. Definitely discuss with doctor though!

Venlafaxine has been amazing! Definitely works better for me than Sertraline, although I do still struggle!

I'm on 200mg and it's helped but I'm still low. Lightheaded and just disconnected still. I'm so scared to change meds incase I go back to the start. Iv also pnd my baby is 9 months old. It's been hell tbh. My anxiety is awful too and I'm just lost. A empty shell of me 😂 please give it time though as it's a long road to recover

Rachrl, please do discuss with doc. I was scared to change too, but the switch from sert to Venlafaxine is a gradual one and it has been successful so far.

I hope you start to feel better soon
