Side effects with increased dose

Posted , 2 users are following.

I've been on 150mg Extended release for about four months, and three weeks ago my doctor agreed to increase the dose to 225mg as my anxiety wasn't improving.

I had the expected side effects for the usual first two weeks, increased anxiety, headaches etc., then things seemed to improve for a few days. Now, though, after three weeks on increased dose, the side effects seem to be back for the last three or four days, and I can't help wondering if I'm just not able to cope with the increased dose. Anyone else had a similar experience?  Do I just soldier on and if so for how long before I go back to my doctor's? I really don't want to decrease again, I need it to work and don't feel I could cope with reducing and maybe starting something else. Feeling pretty desperate just now.

Hi Mike, I know exactly how you feel, I have been on 225 mg XL for almost 5 weeks, I felt really good at first but now I have got bad anxiety again, Im sick of being a nervous wreck , I have been told by psychiatrist to give it 8 weeks from the increase which is easier said than done, so thats what I will do and then if im no better I will go and see gp, no point in "putting up" with it any longer than that, it is really hard to have to change medication but sometimes its what we need to do, hopefully you will start to benefit from your increase soon , seems like were both in the same boat its like being on the big dipper , best wishes x

      Hi Trina,

Many, many thanks for your post, it really has helped to know that there's someone else "in the same boat" - not that I'd wish this on anyone, mind! I find that I can "tough it out" provided I can hope that it will, eventually, start to do its job.

It's an bumpy old ride, isn't it? Hope you start to feel better soon. Again, many thanks, and stay strong.

      Mike
