Sight and hearing deterioration

Wondering if anyone has had sight and/or hearing deterioration with GCA. Diagnosed in August with GCA on right side, since then my sight in right eye has got worse, (wear glasses and had change of lens in June) and have noticed that my hearing on same side, which I've never had an issue with, has become quite bad, can't make out what people are saying.

I was diagnosed with GCA in June, affecting my left hand side. I too have had problems with my hearing and pain in my left ear and around the bone at the back. I also developed pulsatile tinitus in the left side too. I was referred to a ENT specialist who thought it was nerve damage from the temporal biopsy. The tinitus has settled, but some days I still have the pain and although I can hear I'm sometimes confused as to what people are saying, I'm not sure if that will make sense to you. Wishing you well on your journey.

The same seems to be happening to me. I had PMR diagnosed in end of July. GCA in September afte my right eye turned dark for perhaps 30 seconds. Biopsy was negative, but by then i had been on 20mgPred for 8 weeks and on 60mg for 6 days. Now I feel that my sight in general is deteriorating. Have trouble reading subtitles on TV. And when I walk the dogs at night I see double with justmy right eye when looking at the moon. I see another half moon less bright to the right of the moon. I will go see a doctor this week for this. I was holding off, since I thought this was prednisone related and I will be goign down to 50mg next week. I did not want to get all kind of different prescription glasses. Right now I have only off the shelf +1.5 reading glasses. Hate going to bifocals, but I may not have a choice.

It may be far cheaper to get several pairs of reading specs and a cheapish pair of single vision (can you get cheap specs these days!). My optician wanted me to have variofocals several years ago - but I have managed well until now with single vision for the various distances, i.e. computer and distance. Most of what I do is with the distance ones, only the computer needs the others and that is no hardship to switch.
