Oh goodness I can relate to the guilt and letting people down. It's a horrible feeling.

I got fired and am feeling exactly the same.

    It's dark.

Sorry to hear you got fired sad I'm afraid a lot of work firms have no understanding of mental health .

If I'm being realistic, in my field it shouldn't matter. I let other people down and regardless of the reason it was gross misconduct. The problem is, I should have asked for help way sooner.

Either way, I have to focus on getting better.

Yes, it's very normal to feel as if you've let the whole world down. I would call off from work roll over in bed and cry until my head hurt .

Being off work must have been a necessity deemed by your doctors. Include your family in your treatment plan as depression affects the family too.

If you had cancer or some other health issue, would you feel guilty for being off work to get well? Depression is a health issue.

Take the steps you need to be well.

mate, you've got nothing at all to feel guilty about, especially feeling guilty about work, the majority of employer go on how employees are part of their family as long as you have no time off and treat them as no1,family and ,anything that matters, illness or anything that prevents you coming in to work will start to make them forget about how you're part of their family and they start to look at you differently, last year I had so many terrible things happen to me plus i got suspended for gross misconduct while they investigate all at once and thenĀ I lost my job, they completly ignored all the mitagated circumstances which are still going on in my life,m8 look after number1 and your family who love you and will stand by you whatever happens unlike your so called work family which you should never feel guilty about, mate u ever need to chat i'm here.

I just got out of a work meeting where I was allowed to resign (forced). It was a job at my kids school. They have a restraining order on me so I can't pick my kids up, go to school concerts, etc. Talk about let down. They said this will be until my kids graduate, and I have a preschooler. I want to pack up and move, or just die.

Hey. I've been off for a month with depression and went back today. There is no way you can work if you feel really low so don't feel guilty. Only go back when you feel ready .

Thank you for asking. It was good actually . I'm glad I waited to go back as I felt well enough to focus and working today was definitely a distraction on my depression . However there is no way I would be able to work last week as I just couldn't function.

When people asked I was honest and just told them the truth. I'm an intensive care nurse so if my nursing colleagues can't understand mental health then there's no hope for anyone else understanding .

Just do whatever you want over the next few weeks . Even if it means doing nothing which is pretty much what I did . Your mind and body probably need this time off to reflect and think about life or just not think at all .

The choice is yours . Only you know when you feel ready to go back and don't let anyone else pressurise you. You've nothing to be ashamed of. X
