Simulating circumcision to treat balanitis ?

Hi,

I'm interested to see if anyone has tried simulating circumcision (e.g. by keeping the foreskin pulled back) to treat balanitis.

I'm an uncircumcised males in my 40's. I have been dealing with balanitis on the glans on my penis for almost 4 years now. The glans is red, and shiny, with the cayenne pepper dots. I have tried everything with minimal results.

I read an interesting thread on Reddit where users have been able to treat their balanitis by simulating circumcision and keeping the foreskin pulled back all the time. The idea is that this would dry out the skin on the glans, causing it to peel, and creating new skin (e.g. similar to how a circumcision would work).

Anyone try this, and did it work?

Thank you!

    HI!

I am in a situation of chronic "balanitis", it is already two years, I have only a dryness and sometimes redness related to a cortisone cream that was prescribed to me, but which only worsened the situation. I haven't tried to keep the glans uncovered, but have you done any tests for sexually transmitted diseases and any glans swabs?

Yes. I had an STD test which came back negative.

I also had a glans swab done for fungus, which also came back negative.

Like you, I have found that applying any sort of cortisone creams (or any other creams or ointments) only made the redness worst.

The fact that steroids creams make it worse excludes the risk of skin diseases such as Lichen Sclerosus or Psoriasis (if we had had these diseases, cortisone would have helped rather than worsen the situation). Have you been seen by any medical specialists? Urologist? Dermatologist? Has anyone suspected any skin pathology?

Yes, I've seen a couple of doctors and a dermatologist. They weren't very helpful. They just told me that I have balanitis. Ugh.

Tried a raft of stuff none of which has given any long term success. Not sure how practical the suggestion is sadly

Tried it for a month. Didn't do much. Just made it extremely dry occasionally. Does it affect you after having sex? For me, it depends on the female. I realized that each person has different bacteria and it affects me differently. This one girl i had no problem but then later on this other girl who flared me up like crazy to the point where even white spots started popping up. I thought it was a one time thing but 2 weeks later she flared me again which made me have the exact same reaction. Based on this, I believe it must be bacterial.

I know a lot of people have it worse in regard to other penile problems such as more severe STD's , I just hope our medical/biology field will innovate just as much as our space/technology fields. Its crazy how they still cannot give a proper diagnosis.

I've just tried it for a couple of days now. The glans is just very dry and wrinkled, like a raison. I will give it the rest of the week to see what it's like. Cheers.
