Simvastatin & Foot/Leg Pains

Hi all, i was amazed after seeing the ITV program this week about the side effects of statins. I have been taking Simvastatin for some time now & was totally unaware of these side effects.
I have been suffering from numbness & burning pains in my left foot (& right to a smaller degree) & generally weakness in the legs/ankles. Recently though i started with pains in my knee joints.Walking is painful & feels like i have something in my shoe all the time. I seem to have no flexibility in my toes, flexing them is difficult. I feel like a 100 year old !
I have seen my GP who never mentioned anything about the statins & just said it could be arthritis & gave me some anti-inflamitorys which didnt help & he has sent me for an MRI which i am awaiting appointment for. I also just saw a Physio & she said she could'nt find anything like a torn ligament , just general wear & tear maybe on the knee. I am 55 & have never had any joint problems in my life before.
I have decided to stop taking the Simvastating fffor a while ( i will see my doctor) , but wondered if the above symptoms especially the numbness are familiar to anyone else & also does anyone know how long it takes for the statins to clear the system ?

I am going to consult my doctor after watching this programme, but as from now I am off the statins to see if there is a change in how I feel. I certainly cannot feel any worse without them than I do with them.

this has happened to me, I thought it was new shoes! my left foot is the worst the pad on my middle toe is where the pain concentrates, I went to the doctor who said I had \"Fallen Arches\" I bought GEL insoles and Gel insteps, what a waste of money that was, thanks \"Doctor\" after a day of walking I arrived home, steeped my poor feet in hot water and lay on the bed, after two hours the pain was worse, thats when the \"penny\" droped and I realised it was the \"Statins\", I stopped the tablets that night, next day there was an inprovement and the next, I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow. I had been on these tablets for over a year but I was taking a low-dose Asprin aswell, my doctor told me to stop the Asprin and thats when the pain started but it was over a period of five six weeks I never noticed...........
