Simvastatin Musclle pain. Memory loss.

I was prescribed Simvastatin 40mg in February 2010.
Since then I have had terrible cramps and pain in my calf muscles and knees when walking short distances. I also suffered a very sudden onset of massive fatigue in my lower body after a very short distance. It was as if I was running up a very steep hill every time I walked.
I complained to my Dr and suggested it may be the simvistatin. He dismissed this and called it a 'wonder drug' .
As a diabetic My Dr suggested my pains were from arterial disease (Im 50)
A visit to the specialist consultant counteracted this.
My Dr then claimed I must have spinal claudication, and I was sent for a MRI scan at the local hospital. The MRI showed no claudication.
My walking was now dibilitating. I have put on a stone since Feb because I have had to remain inactive. My memory was really poor, I had stomach upsets and bouts of dizzyness.
I finally convinced my Dr to take me off the Simvastatin 10 days ago.
Im almost back to normal already, I can cover a half mile in 10 minutes with only minor twiches ( which I put down to lack of use of the muscles) My memory is returning and my sickness and dizzy spells seem to have cleared up. It feels like I have had a leg transplant! My head is clearer and I have more energy.
The cause of my pain and memory problems were absolutley down to taking Simvastatin.
Don't take your Drs point of view over Simvastatin. Its not the miracal drug the makers claim it is.

I was recently changed from Crestor to Simvastatin 40mg
Have used Crestor for a number of years and only side effect was sore back muscles
After 3 weeks I found I was getting tired just walking the dog
Also my golf suffered as after a number of holes I lost strength and will to hit ball
Also suffered itchiness all over my body
Had to get out of bed and scratch
I have stopped drug and to see Dr on Mon and already I feel more alert
