I feel like I'm losing consciousness all the time... I don't faint, but it feels like fainting... I'm scared my brain is damaged because I have so much anxiety... I don't know how to describe this, it feels like I'm losing consciousness, like my brain shuts off for a few seconds or minutes... I never experienced this before I got a panic attack a week ago... I'm so scared... What if I'm gonna end up in a coma?

Hey Anne,
I'm 19 years old and I'm turning 20 pretty soon. I've been dealing with panic attacks since march 25th 2020. I think it was built up stress due to the lockdown and other issues I was dealing with at the time. My first panic attack was crazy felt like I was having a heart attack I couldnt breathe I couldnt think straight I just felt like my brain was dead. Went to the the ER multiple times, seen a cardiologist, neurologist, gastroligist, pulmonolist. Idek if I spelt some of those right lol but yeah I pretty got checked out by everyone. Everything came back completely normal. I realised it was something I was always going to deal with. So instead of denying the reality I accepted it. I think thats when everything turned around. Dont be ashamed to see a therapist and start medacation i really helped me. As corny as this sounds try meditating and look the story behind the Buddha and mindfulness. Even just going outside and breathing fresh air is really relaxing. Let your family what your dealing with so they can better understand you. Also try to find your triggers and dont be afraid to face them. For example, some of my are the most random things its like when I feel stuck like a haircut or doing a favor for someone.
Good luck and trust the Doctors ! hope this eases your mind a bit.

Believe me, you were going to be OK! What happens is that with anxiety, the brain wants to protect you from that and sometimes it feels as though it is shutting down. It’s not actually shutting down it’s giving you a break from the anxiety. I know how scary it can feel but you’re gonna be OK. You could use some support right now. Think about speaking with a counselor about this. They can help you manage it all.
also when we get really freaked out about it, it can actually make sensations feel worse. So do you things that relax your mind. YouTube has great meditations for anxiety that will relax your body and mind. I do this every day. Your brain is not damaged it’s just that when you have anxiety we get these crazy type of symptoms. I hope you find a counselor to help you with this. take care
