I have had carpel tunnel since being pregnant with my daughter now 7. I only use to suffer of a night with numbness and pins and needles in my hands. My right is worse than my left. I was given amatriptline. Aty fist they were great but after a while i think your body gets use to them and they do not work as effectively.

I have had steroid injections in both wrists on the 6th Dec 05 and a month later the pain has returned. I can have an op but with two children under 8 feel that it is not an option.

the sleepless nights are driving me crazy. Good luck :lol:

May not be suitable for you, as it's an antiepileptic drug, but I was put on Lyrica (pregabalin) for my CTS nerve pain, and have to say it is awesome. I haven't ever had a drug work quite so well as it has for this problem, and trust me, the pain I was having overnight was just utterly horrendous - I also have bone pain in the same arm (courtesy of a complication of my lupus possibly), and the nerve pain is worse than that sometimes. Worst nights are when I have all 3 types of pain (muscle, bone AND nerve!) at once and nothing settles them for hours on end. I end up so stiff I can't change position to even try and alleviate the problems and the stiffness seems to perpetuate the pain or v.v. Lyrica is just a bit tough to start off on as it makes you very spacey for a while until you get used to it, but as I say, I've found it superb, and know others who also have. smile
