Sinus Infection for 4 months now.. is this considered Chronic now if all medications won't work?

I've been to 5 different doctors who have given me 6 different medications to take to get rid of my sinus infection symptoms. They each have worked a bit but then once I'm off of them the symptoms come right back. I have a bad cough, stuffy nose, pain all over my face, lots of mucus and ear aches. My next step is probably going to an ENT but can someone please just inform me that there is a solution to end all of this because these past months have been terrible.

Hi Lauren. I so know how you feel I have had endless bouts of sinus infections over the past number of years, like you I tried every meds under the sun and I would hate to think of how many antibiotics I’ve taken. Had MRI done etc., Consultant said “yes there is the remenent of an infection” that was it. I did wonder and not for the first time did my GP or the Consultant ever have this complaint, doubt it, or they wouldn’t be so flipent about. It totally wears you down. BUT some months ago I went to a new Doctor and my life has changed so much, why, she doesn’t believe in handing out antibiotics and put me on a tablet for cold and flu that you buy over the counter & a nasal rinse. When I feel a bout coming on I rinse 3 times a day & get the tablets, then once a day I use the rinse to clear out sinus. Honestly it sounded too simple to be any good, but I have never got such relief as I have with this. Give it a go as it’s not expensive and for me it works a treat. On a lighter note, the first time I did this I thought that’s done, but about a half an hour later I was bending over to pick up something and this gush of water came flying out of my nose, not a good look & I was so glad I was at home - lol. I hope You feel better soon.

Sorry to hear of the sinus troubles you are facing. I had my share of sinus issues back in July and eventually had a nasal surgery. From that experience, perhaps I can share with you some of the things I’ve learnt.
Seeing an ENT is necessary. They will look into whether your congested nose and other symptoms are due to structural issues (deviated septum, blocked sinus holes, polyps) or maybe allergy related issues (like swollen turbinates). In my case it was due to allergies, which caused my turbinates to sweep so badly that I couldn’t breathe and my sinus hole was badly blocked by the swollen turbinates.
So there are two things that were very necessary, one was to understand if it was allergies that caused my sinus issues. I had doc order an allergy test for me. I found out eventually I had developed dust mite allergies. The second was a CT Scan. That scan revealed a severely infected maxillary sinus.
So do go see an ENT and have the doc look into it for you. And when they do suggest surgery, be sure to consider other options first before surgery.
I hope this helps.

I've had sinus problems for over 30 years , a ENT will do a scope he can also do a culture at the same time, this will tell him what kind of med's you need to be on, I washout twice a day it helps a lot, I am having the same problems you have now my culture showed nothing but I have immune system problems, mucinex D works really well to thin mucus in the sinus's also steam like in the shower, or warm water put a towel over your head and inhale the steam, warm cloth placed over the head will help to loosen mucus to, He can check out your ear as well you may need some ear drops, I have found over the years you just have to work with it, lanolin I use to keep it from drying out its found in baby section at walmart.

I found an absolute cure for allergy problems, after suffering from hayfever, rhinitis and sinusitis for a lifetime, until I found a cure at age 65.
I started as a child with severe hayfever, and this graduated to rhinitis and sinusitis when I was about 15 years old.
I went to many specialists, had my nose cortorised twice and tried ever treatment available, but the problem persisted. I did get some relief from these treatments but the problem was continuous.
Finally, at age 65 I discovered a complete cure for my problem. It was simply a matter of taking one 1000 mg Evening Primrose Oil capsule each day.
Evening Primrose Oil works in about 4 hours and it is effective for a further 24 hours, so one capsule daily is usually sufficient.
It works by desensitising the nervous system, so that the body does not react to normal irritants. It is not a drug, so it has no adverse side affects and it does not affect mental ability.
Try this treatment for a couple if weeks and note the affect. It will do no harm, and it may even be a cure for your problems.
Regards Ray.
