After having my first child everytime I have a cold or chest infection ect I always end up having sinus trouble green post nasal pain in head eyes nose ect .

I'm getting over a chest infection I still have the cough I was washing th pots and I have pressure in my face no pain really just a bit ache in my eyes and head but the pressure is making me feel my face and head is a balloon and about to pop I'm freaking out I have anxiety so this then leads to me having really horrible thoughts doctors normally give me antibiotics but I haven't been for any since around 2 years as I was sick of taking them I catch colds ect really easy so I'd say I have a sinus infection or what I believe to be sinus infection near enough constant maybe a 2 week break what causes it ? How do I get them to stop ? I'm fed up of all of it I'm never not ill I have health anxiety and I'm run down a lot with family problems and 2 small children I also have noticed I have a hiss noise or low rumble or even ringing near enough constantly have one of them which also then make my hearing not so good Is they anything I can do to stop this from happening I can't cope ? Sometimes the sinus infection are really painful and other there milder and cope able well I suppose iv learnt to live with them I do suffer migrain too

Reading the book 'Harvard Medical School Guide to Healing Your Sinuses' helped me a lot to deal with chronic sinusitis. There is not magical cure there, but I understood better my condition and what to expect. I highly recommend this book for people suffering from sinusitis.

Hey stephx we have all been suffering so surely we know how it feels. Although I don't have a great solution for you, the first suggestion from me is please relax first and try to tell yourself it's no big deal (maybe think of those suffering from more serious illnesses or accidents and think of your 2 lovely kids, we are relatively lucky enough). Emotion is really bad to any health issues. Let's cheer up and don't get frustrated first ~

I had the gurgling sound in my nose, recently. I have constant Ryhinitis so have to take Fexofenadine this is a very good Antihestamine, but you do not say you have allergies. I have been given Nasacort nasal spray, (reduces inflammation in the nasal cavities) that has helped clear this also. Do go and see your doctor, you should not have to put up with this. I use lozenges Strepsils for stuffed nose in the morning, that helps to clear it too. I also went onto U Tube and found some sinus massages that help to clear this also. I am going to treat myself soon to an Indian Head Massage, I have read this helps the clearing of sinuses. Hot compresses on the face to, by the way of flannels dipped into hot water rung out and placed on face. I hope you get sorted out soon. I am retired, I would not have been a happy mum, if it had been a problem for me when my children were young. Drink as much water as you can, it helps to by being less thick (sorry bit yuk).

Well the problem with sinusitis is that because is not a life threatening condition you will have to push your GP constantly in order to get a solution. I am afraid in my experience you will have to do a little of research to point the GP/Specialist about what it could be causing this. On this link:

    sinuscanada.com/public/documents/guidelines/full-guidelines-manuscript.pdf

you will find a lot of information. I am not Canadian but I found their guideline the most useful.

I was at the same situation and I was diagnose with dust allergy, but from here I cannot help you, I did all my treatments privately and abroad, including a flaps (sinus) surgery and allergic shots, I am cured now. In the UK if you are diagnose with an allergy a permanent use of the indicated nasal sprays may help. But to get a diagnose you need to be referred first to a specialist.

Regarding this, having 4 or more sinusitis per year is call repeated sinus and it has pretty much same attention than chronic sinusitis, hence you have reason enough to be referred. Be aware many NHS staff do not care about that so my main advice is do not stop pushing until you are referred and treated properly by an ENT. The main problem is that unlike most people think antibiotics do help and in my experience are overused by doctors in order to do not to find the root reason for the sinusitis and tackle it. Should you be referred make sure you are tested with a CT scan and allergies prick test, anything less than that it indicates that the specialist is not concerned about your case.

    Good Luck

I used to have the same situation so I guess I can give you tips.

1)To start having several bouts of sinusitis with small brakes is call repeated sinusitis. This have the same treatment than Chronic sinusitis. This statement is international practice and supported by NICE. Hence to point out the doctor/specialist what it may be the root cause you have to read https://patient.info/health/chronic-sinusitis

    2) Having 4 or more bouts per year is reason enough to be referred by your GP. So you have to enquire it.

    3) Once you are referred to an ENT the most probably outcome is he would try antibiotics first, at this point you have to request at least a ct scan and an allergy prick test, anything less than that in my opinion is indication that the ENT is not concerned so you will have to request a second opinion.

Once you have these tests, they may find proper solutions. Be aware that the NHS is not impressive reading scans so if they just say it is normal you are allowed to get a copy of it by the data protection law and enquire with it a second opinion, but you need a laptop in order to read it.
