Hi just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, i recently had a 7 day heart monitor which showed nothing other than an episode of sinus tachycardia is that an abnormality to be worried about ive had multiple tests over the last few years such as echo, ecgs, xrays, bloods all fine im a 29 year old female otherwise ok have random episodes of fast heartbeat and missed beats think its being put down to stress. Also i can see my pulse in my throat and neck constantly sometimes harder than others is this normal?

No, Sinus Tach is nothing to worry about. It's a rapid rate (anything over 100) but it's regular so no worries. I have 3 heart arrythmias and in a structurally normal heart free of heart disease even they are benign.
Since you have had all the testing and it was all normal, you have nothing to worry about.

Hi Ralph01, I know feeling your heart racing is a scary feeling but try not to worry as it will not harm you. Sinus Tach is a heat rate over 100 bpm but regular. The sinus node is the conductor of your heart. It keeps the pace... So all Sinus Tach means is a fast heart rate that originates in the sinus node. It's a fast but regular rhythm and it's not going to hurt you so don't worry

I get this same problem. So I've started to eat and drink less and feel healthier for doing so.

Also, the harder beats your feeling are more then likely PVCS or PACS. They aren't skipped beats or missed beats but premature beats (early) that originate in the vertical (PVCS) or the atrium (PACS) verses the sinus node which is the part of the heart that keeps the pace. They happen for a bunch of different reasons and everyone gets that at sometime or another, majority of people just don't feel them. Still even those premature beats are benign in a healthy heart.
Keep away from caffeine, smoking and stress. All those things can make them worse, anxiety also makes them worse. The more you think about them the more you tend to feel them, so take comfort in the fact that they can't harm you and try not to focus on them, easier said then done I know.
Best wishes

Glad I just found this thread...I have anxiety and have had numerous EKG's over the years and I also have sinus tachycardia. Heart rate can get up there when it comes on (160 or so) and it's not pleasant. I am looking to fly to Europe for the first time ever soon and my biggest fear is having one of these episodes come on during the flight. Had a full blown ultrasound / ECG a few years ago, all was structurally normal. Any reassurance I can get for making this flight, even if my heart rate gets up there, would be greatly appreciated.

Anxiety esp health anxiety literally sucks all the happiness from your life.
The only advice I can give you for situations as this, is to visit your Dr and explain you suffer from anxiety and are going on a trip and need something to help you handle flight. They are normally very accommodating for situations like that.

We can relate. Yes I actually have a doctor/specialist that I've spoken to, and I already take Clonazepam for the anxiety (.75mg twice a day). My regular doctor prescribed Propranolol years ago for the heart rate, which I used to rely on heavily in school but now only need once very couple of years, as it hasn't been too much of an issue. So I always keep a couple of 10mg tabs in my pocket if I'm away from home, just in case.
To be honest no one ever figured out which came first...the sinus tach or the anxiety, but right now it just seems to be the later.
This would be a longer distance trip for me, US to Germany and Poland, so any reassurance I can get that such an episode is controllable and would not be harmful to me if it came on during flight would be great. Thanks!
