Sinusitis caused by TMJ?

Hello,

So for 2 years now I have been seeing an ENT for sinusitis symptoms.

Basically everyday I am congested, hacking up mucus, have pressure in my sinuses, pain, blurry vision, headaches, breathing problems with congestion, balance issues due to fullness in ears, neck aches and just a general lack of concentration with high fatigue.

After multiple scans and tests, trying numerous medications nothing has worked and I am infact perfectly healthy despite the above and the repeat infections.

I have since seen a dentist for a routine check up and he noticed my jaw alignment is off slight to the left, there is a lot of grinding and cracking when he moves it / applies pressure.

I am aware of my jaw cracks but it's never been painful and at times I can actually crack it in 2 places at once. It's become a stress habit that's hard to stop despite how self aware I am of doing it.

The dentist has said amazingly said all the above I have complained about can be caused by TMJ. Even down to the mucus production through irritation of the sinuses. He thinks I have mistaken sinus pain and pressure for jaw pain and pressure.

I am happy to have a direction to go in, but suppressed at the same time.

I don't know what treatment there is at the moment. It's been 2 years of cracking so he is sending me to a specialist for a more thorough assessment.

Can anyone relate?

I can definitely relate to u in regards to the sinusitis issue , I have been suffering for well over 4 plus years with the issuess u described. I to an other wise healthy but continuing  to deal with these symptoms r  very frustrationing. especially since I have tried prettty much every type of remedy.  I have heard certain dental issues can have an effect on your sinuses but Jaw issues is was not one of them.  my dentist continues to feel my issues issues r coming from the environment and not from denatal reasons.  please keep me up to date with ur TMJ issue. I may have to mention this to my doctor at my next visit

I will see what it brings I suppose. At this moment, id do anything for some relief.

Do you suffer with anxiety at all?

My GP wants me to start Sertraline to rule out anxiety as a culprit for causing all this. I know it's manifested in numerous forms already in the past rolleyes
