How far can you bend foward without causing yourself pain, please go carefully, you should be strong enough now to go past 90 degrees. Have you been doing post surgery exercises, that will help lossen up any stiffness, can you get advice from a physio, they will help you with confidence issues. I was silly enough at the hospital to sit down on a visitor sofa, I discovered as I was halfway there, my hip hurt like crazy, so just allowed myself to fall the rest of the way, bounce bounce, and then didn't have a hope of getting up again. Nurses and physio came and recused me. I had to hold myself stiff and straight with planted feet, while they pulled me out of the sofa, by my arms. I don't reccomend the method, but it does work, but you do need the extra help.

Six months? I'm 12 weeks post op and I sit on my couch all the time. It is rather firm and in the early weeks I added blankets or pillows to raise the seat a bit.. But at six months you should be fine unless it's really squishy and low smile

    Hi Hiyab,

I am so sorry to hear about your dad -

I agree with Lyn - It sounds like you are not confident enough to sit in a low chair, so please don;lt do it .. it is easy to just let yourself fall/drop down on the seat and that is not good ...

I have a firm couch (came with the rental unit) and have put it on wooden blocks to get proper height - so have been on couch from day 1 after discharge -

So, if you are still afraid of sitting in low chair or on low sofa, don't do it, okay?

It is hard to get out of them too, you know - sometimes even with good hipseek

    warm hug
