Six-week virus, and no end yet...

about six weeks ago, i came down with what i though was a cold virus, but it never went away.   there is no fever, no coughing, no runny nose, and my appetite is good; instead, just a general malaise, lethargy, and that "i don't feel so good" feeling.  i had night sweats the first two weeks.  then the achiness started coming in waves: i would feel 75% normal for a while, then wham--back on the couch.  i have no energy to do anything.  i had two-days about a week ago where i felt somewhat normal and thought, at last, i was on the mend; and then awoke with a terrible headache and the achy lethargy totally back.  getting blood tests tomorrow.  i've done everything imaginable: detox baths, saunas; steam bath; garlic; gallons of tea, honey, and lemon; mushrooms pills (tauted to boost immunity); chinese elixers; elderberry concotions; probiotics; and every other "natural" hooey remedy imaginable.  now the waves of achiness have been replaced by a steady weakness and lethargy and mild sore throat.  i can get about, go to a movie, but anything too mildly exerting (an "outing" that involves too much walking)--will leave me achy and drained.  i'm 66 yrs old, but very healthy and athletic.  i'm supposed to go on a one-week ski vacation in two weeks, and now must cancel to get a refund as i have no confidence that i will get better.  i know of no one who has this, and my doc says no one has been coming in with a "6-week and continuing" virus.  it's getting me worried, and i'm beginning to feel like this is my life.

    Hi Kurt, are you being tested for vitamin D deficiency? That can have similar symptoms to the ones you mention.

    Could it be mononucleosis?  Our son had same symptoms when he was younger?  Had him tested for drugs!  Wasn't very happy! It turned out to be mono!

    good luck!

    let us know about tests!

      yeah, could be mono or some sort of epstein-barr virus; but they usually have fever and swollen lymph nodes.  i'm okay there.  i assume the blood tests tomorrow will reveal that.  kinda old for all that, but who knows....
