Six weeks assessment today!!!

Posted , 7 users are following.

I went to hospital and I saw a nurse/phisiotherapist. She was amazed at my progress and my range of movement in new hip. All resctrictions lifted, I can do whatever I like with some care. I had a traditional method: longer scar but very quick recovery. Very skilled surgeon and a dose of good luck, I suppose! No phisio because I can do easily all the exercises in the booklet. Very encouraging but...I still feel very tired if I do too much and I still have the odd muscular pain here and there...Often I go for a sleep in the afternoon, I don't feel ready to go back to work.

Best wishes to all of you!

    Hi Ella

Well done and great news for you.  I had operation same day as you.

I had a good assessment last week with consultant but my physio was not so good this week as my other hip has started really hurting and slowed me down.

I have been given more range of movements to help flexibility of leg movement on operated leg and to remove slight limp I have when walking unaided. Hoping to sort this out in next two weeks.  Good news you have no physio. You must be delighted.

Hi Ella ... woohoot to that !!!!

don't worry about getting tired, nap in the afternoon and the muscle pain - it will be there for a little bit longer ... when are you supposed to go back to work?

6 weeks only and doing so well ...as said many times before, it is major surgery and takes time to heal ... keep listening to your body .. she knows best !

    have a good night

    warm hug

      Hi Renee,

I have been listening to my body from day one...I have stopped doing exercises if they were too painful, for instance...I try to rest when I need to.I am supposed to go back to school in september...I have six more weeks to concentrate on my recovery. I might even retire ...I have reached a certain age!

      Big hugs

on hindsight, having hip problems and now the 2nd one, I feel grateful that I am -

You will know what to do, I am sure of that ...

    Great news Ella

Yes the tiredness is a problem- shows we have still some way to go on our recovery journey

I work from home so can do a lot of my stuff here but part of my job does involve travelling out to see some of my staff which I cannot currently do and do not feel ready for yet

This afternoon I slept for 4 hours - had a busy day previously with no afternoon nap and it just catches up with you

Plus I am doing quite a bit of walking around with no crutches and both legs really ache(apparently normal as pelvis realignes itself)

it's case of slowing down when we overdo it a bit so you take care and just pace yourself - your health takes priority over everything. Have a peaceful night- are you sleeping on your side yet -it's wonderful!

    Keep up the good work

    Kind regards Linda xx

      Dear Pansycat,

I went to my GB and she suggasted iron tablets to make me feel less tired...I'll buy some but I think that we feel tired because our body went through so much and sleep is the best cure!

I feel pain in legs/hip/groins if I walk too much or I over do thing...usually I suffer the following day, but then I make sure to get some rest.

"Slowing down when we overdo it a bit" is exactly what we have to do.

I am sleeping on both sides and on my tummy as well, I move around an awful lot during the night...I am still sleeping in the spare bedroom alone...I would keep my husband awake all through the night! I can sleep on any position but not for very long, so I keep changing but funny enough I don't wake up...

Best wishes and big hugs to you!

      Dear Marylin,

When did you have your op? Which type of work do you do?

I am glad you are well neough to go back to work, 2 weeks of phasing seems to be ideal.

      Best wishes
