After GCA, I was diagnosed with PMR. Started on 15mg of prednisone, the pain went in six hours. Wonderful - I thought! But following doctor's treatment plan, dropped too quickly and the pain and stiffness came back a week or so again. Disappointed.
Now back on prednisone and relying on advice from forum member on coming to terms with how to manage treatment at a sustainable level to prevent any more flares. Dry eyes are a nuisance and I use eye-drops as often as needed.

The most recent guidelines say up to 25mg as the starting dose - just for the start, It may be the PMR causing the dry eyes, many of us have some problems, some worse than others.

You may not need it for long at that level.

Hi Ina, we are all different, when I started on Prednisone it took about a month before I felt good and then I started my tapering. I would give the Pred, a chance to get the inflammation under control and if it doesn't you may have to increase your dosage. Good luck on your PMR journey, we are all here for you to share our thoughts. 🙂
