Or is it a boil? Should I be going to the dr for antibiotic treatment or continue with warm compresses? It started last night and has progressed to this in the photo. It is very painful and was itchy when it first started.

Hi, that does look like it's very sore. It's very difficult to actually see the infection but judging by the large red area around it I think that you should see the Dr!
I used to have serious boils or whatever, unfortunately antibiotics were often the only way to get rid of them!
Seeing the Dr, I'd rather hear that it's going to cure itself than to increase to something much worse! That is why we pay them the big bucks!

Thank you. If it doesn't look any better tomorrow morning I'll go to the dr, at the moment the redness has actually gone down significantly, so I'm assuming it's going away. I've had similiar things before and heal on my over 90 percent of the time , this one freaked me out though. Fingers crossed I won't need to take any pills for it.
