Skin Turning White on Foreskin

Hi, I am a 26 year old. For the past 4 months I have noticed my skin turning white at the tips of my foreskin, mostly on the underside where the skin connects to the glans (whatever that's called). They were barely noticeable and tiny.

I wash my penis every time I shower but I didn't was underneath the foreskin so I put it down to that. I started washing underneath my foreskin everyday with soap and water as soon as I saw them .

I suspected maybe it was hardened smegma as it was white and it was dry and hard making it somewhat difficult to pull the foreskin all the way down. The actual part that connects skin to glans was white on the left side making the left side hard to go down but the right easy. Internet says washing hardened smegma daily often makes it go away in the course of a couple of weeks.

2 Months later of continuous washing and it's getting worse. I research more and find that it's probably not smegma. Smegma is more of a build-up and often smells and itches. What I have is not a build-up as far as I can tell, rather just the skin turning white and hardening. It doesn't smell and doesn't itch. I don't notice it when I'm not looking at it.File size is too big

I had a feeling maybe the soap was making it worse so for the next 2 months up until today I only used water to wash it. It has spread still. Most prominent on the underside but I've noticed small white parts on the top side also. Finally, I have also noticed that on my glans in the entrance part there is a small white part. Apart from that my glans/penis looks healthy to my knowledge.

I haven't had sex in about 3 years and when I did it was with protection.

Does anyone know what this might be, 5 months ago I did not notice anything wrong. I can't find anything that matches this properly on the internet. I am trying to convince myself to go to the doctors and I probably will but it would be good to get a bit of insight from some of you.

Thanks for any help!

Dan, the white patch is on the lower part of your frenulum and upper part of the shaft of your penis (on the underside, obviously).

You need to stop using soap or any other bodily cleanser on this area as you could well cause a severe dermatological problem with your skin here. Wash with water only, cover the entire head of your penis with your foreskin when you shower, wash everywhere else and make sure you rinse away all the cleansers you have used. At the end of the shower, expose the entire head and use warm running water to wash the head and foreskin with, rubbing gently with the inside of your hand.

So what I think the main white patch is, is either a White Wart Patch (no connection with STD/STI's), a Dermatological reaction in the Skin in this area, or an actual Skin Condition, and I will not scare you with what that could be (again no connection with STD/STI's, and no it does not begin with "C" either be rest assured!) - and this is why you need to get a formal diagnosis of what this actually is.

So, you need to go to your Regular / Family Doctor / GP, or go to any Sexual Health facility and they can organise getting the right test done on what you have. PLEASE report back once you have seen a medical professional, particularly if they give you a medication and ask you to go back in a few weeks time, you need to have this correctly diagnosed.

Ok thanks for the in-depth advice. Researching White Wart Patch I highly doubt it is anything to do with that. From what I could research I think it could be lichen sclerosus but then again the pictures don't exactly match with usual symptoms. I am very nervous to go to the doctor. I will try your method for a month and see if any noticeable improvement and if not I'll go to the doctors. Someone online did suggest perhaps using anti fungal cream. Do you think that's a bad idea?

So, yes, the Lichen Sclerosus would have been my suggestion, I did not notice the small white patch on the 2nd photo in my 1st response, so I think that alone would rule out the Wart Patch.

As suggested, the anti fungal could be worth trying for a while, clotrimazole or miconazole are the typical ones to try and see what reaction you get .....
