Skipped Beats

I have hasd two ablations for AF over the last twelve months, the last one five and a half months ago and been AF free but over the last five days I have had increased premature beats either bending down or when going from walking to climbing no more than two or three in a row, the increased frequencey is worring, will they ease in time or is this the start of another round of the AF, any comments appreciated I am 55 years old fit and with a normaly structed heart.

Cheers

Hi Pat, I'm a 50 year old woman and had an ablation 18 months ago after the ablation I too noticed premature beats, after a while they calmed down but the last few months they have come back more frequently, I went back to my consultant who put me on a 7 day heart monitor. I had the results on Wednesday he said everything is fine and 'try' not to worry as they can be made worse by stress. So I'm taking his advice and trying to relax he said there are no signs of the AF returning so just carry on as I was. I'm to see him again in 6 months, I would say contact your consultant just to put your mind at rest but I'm sure like me you will be fine. Good luck.

Hi Pat & Debbie, Very interested in reading both your posts. I had an ablation 7 mths ago with mixed results. I tried coming off my pills but symptoms of AF returned so I had a 24hr monitor on which showed no AF. My E.P Consultant suggested I keep off my Diltiazem and Flecainide and have a 7 day monitor on to see what was happening. I am waiting for results of this but suspect it may not show anything. I'm still off my pills but if I do too much eg bit of weeding/gardening I feel shaky, unwell, have premature beats?/palpitations and sudden headache (BP goes way up). These symptoms are much worse if I'm tired or haven't slept very well. I'm not sure if this is AF or the kind of thing you two are experiencing? I also have very little energy a lot of the time so I feel the ablation has helped to some extent but not as I had hoped. I hope for the 3 of us this is a temporary stage where our hearts are still adapting to the ablation? All the best to you both, Maggie

Hi Maggie, what I found is that anxiety is a side effect of the heart issue along with medication side effects, even though I denied I was anxious about the whole AF thing I was, shakes at the early stages, tension headaches, and a feeling of doom, but they all passed, energy level returned a bit slower than the first ablation and feeling good post second ablation apart from these dam premature beats, have been told they are benign but its the unknowen, will they kick off the AF again, I hope not !

Get the monitor results you will then know for sure whats going on, you BP will go up when anxious, and flec gave me crappy side effects, Hope all goes well for you.

      Cheers
