    Hi Arianna,

I too have skipped and missed beats, which I've been told are Premature or extra beats. It is only the pause that is noticed. I've had the racing heart beat also, I've took myself up to A+ECG on a few occasions, I've had bloods tests, X-ray ECG scans and all came back clear. They put it it down to Anxiety and it does seem you are showing the symptoms, go and see your x GP, breath deep and slow when you have a attack. And drink plenty of Water, I'm on 50mg Sertraline and have been for Nine weeks, it has certainly made a lot of difference. And the symptoms your having, I and others on here have had the same, try and relax, keep us posted.

I've been having palpitations recently which isn't skipping beats but I used to get skipped beats too.

It made me think is my heart about to go nuts on me but thankfully it's subsided and gone I think.

My diet isn't the best tbh and vi hardly drink water all day.

I've had anxiety for many years. It's getting better recently but I still have issues which I can't get on top of. Social anxiety, not fitting in, being the one people pick on or use .

I think I need to share it more the cos before I didn't thought I cud sort it out myself. My bro has a lot to answer for but I can't help thinking I come out the womb anxious cos my mum is anxious and repressed emotions.

Ur heart is fine really it is .

    Hope this helps

    Phil

Yes, it could be anxiety. Stress can cause skipped heartbeats as well. Are you stressed out about things?

Try breathing exercises, and just relax and close your eyes, sorry you do that sitting down

I get that all the time. They are directly related to stress and anxiety, but they are (in my experience) directly tied to biological stress rather than psychological.

For example, these factors all add to the chance of skipping:

    * Tired. Not "I woke up early" tired, I mean if the last few days I had to work a lot. Several days of bad sleep puts me in skipping mood. Warning: just because you clocked in as "asleep" doesn't mean you slept. I wear a sleep monitor and I sleep poorly if stressed, which leads to fatigue, which is stress. Get a good night sleep. use some chemicals if need be.

    * Stimulants. Before I quit smoking, this was a thing. Even after, anything over cola in caffeine strength triggers the skipping. I've talked to a doctor and she said it's not something to be worried, many people get them, but I should cut down on coffee. I did. It really helps. I now restrict the AMOUNT of caffeine I drink both over a day and at a time. Drinking Monster basically triggers it within the hour, Coca Cola Zero needs like 4-5 cans. Black tea and light instant coffee don't trigger any.

    * Stress. The more I spend in a state of tension, the worse it gets. If you catch yourself just being stuck in a weird pose, with a hand up, or clenching teeth, basically with muscles just working for no reason, that's bad. It's an effect of being stressed, stress produces chemicals and that stresses the ol' ticker.

FOR ME, cutting down caffeine, getting a couple nights good sleep and making a bit more effort to stay relaxed basically erases the skips.

I've had a few last night (I'm VERY busy at work) and realized it's been WEEKS since my last skip.
