Hi lovely, bless you I'm the same . Been to the doctors and A and E many times with this .... scary and unsettling to say the least. This is another horrid symptom slot of us have to endure sadly, to put your mind at rest get the reassurance you need , all will be fine I'm sure - you're not alone xx

I had this problem. Even a breast surgeon I had to see for breast pain heard them and my husband heard them (we have had a stethoscope for years). Someone on here recommended chelated magnesium. I had been taking magnesium and it didn't help. But the way I understand it that the chelated magnesium the body absorbs it easier? Whatever, it stopped my skipping heart beats. So I continue to take it. It took a few days and they gradually just stopped. Now I will recommend if you haven't had the skips checked out, you may want to, especially if they last a long time. Mine was like a month or or 6 weeks. I have had it happen a few times. But not since the chelated mag. I take 250mg. I also avoid caffeine.

I have had a heart cath (about 4 years ago) So my heart is good. I have had EEG, EKG and I have even had a CT Scan. About 6 years ago I had CHF from not controlling my blood pressure. I am on bp meds still. So when my heart skips it is a trigger for me and really scares me.

I am 51 and postmenopause 2 years. I believe it could be hormones but there is always that doubt. You know? It is worth having it checked out if magnesium doesn't help.

I have moved on from the skips to other pains. Ugh. When it rains it pours. Hormone issues doesn't magically stop when you hit postmenopause or at least not for me.

    Hello hope

I had this a few months ago and it lasted weeks, and really started to scare me. I'd get ectopic beats, so longer gaps in between and then fluttering when it catches up. I had one instance where I genuinely thought it wasn't going to regulate itself so went to A&E where they did heart trace and bloods but I was fine. They put it down to my thyroid being a bit wonky and fingers crossed I only get it rarely. When I was reading about it, you can get it through stress (of course), thyroid, iron but also when dehydrated. I'd get it checked with your doc anyway just to put your mind at rest xx

i too have had this and also episodes of very rapid heart rate. after one particular episode where the fluttering lasted more than 5 seconds and was super strong, i went to see a cardiologist. i am still waiting for the full results but the preliminary findings seem to be normal.

i suspect that it is related to reflux so i have started to watch what i eat (no caffeine) and also started taking stronger magnesium. i had been taking regular magnesium for years but switched to the chelated version.

i have to say that i have noticed a difference. i have had only one or two skipped beats in the last month compared to daily episode.

Thank you wonderful ladies for your responses. Sorry i didn't get back to all of you sooner but I have been under the weather with the flu. I read all your responses and took every one of them to heart. Thank God the skipping heartbeats had stopped. I haven't been taking my magnesium and drinking a lot of water and i think that was the cause. Once again thank you .God bless
