Sleep and Alcohol

So I do realize that alcohol messes with your sleep patterns, but normally whether I am drinking or sober, I can only get at max 5 hours of sleep. Not sure if it's because of my age, am 59 now or because something else, maybe because of stress and anxiety? I used to be able to sleep a lot even during my early 50's, at least 6-8 hours. But now I just wake up at around 5 hours no matter what, sometimes even less. Anyone have similar experiences?

I,m 69 and have had sleep problems for years, i get between 5 and 7 hours sleep and definitely feel tired during the morning after i wake. I feel tired in the evening also and often fight to keep awake because i know i mustn,t go to bed too early because i will be awake at 3 o clock,  the night are dark, cold and long in the winter, i try not to be too despondant about it, my daughter is 50 and has the same problem.
