Sleep anxiety while pregnant and need some clarity

Hi everyone,

I'd like to start off by saying thank you for reading my post. Over the last month i have been struggling to feel okay. My anxiety/OCD got pretty intense recently and my sleep has taken a hit. Usually this wouldnt be an issue because I take trazadone and it helps. i was told by one physician to stop med, i did. My sleep became very bad so i was told to go back on meds. Well now when i lay down to sleep i start to have intense hypnic jerks (ive taken magnesium for this) and i increased my meds but it isnt helping. I should also mention that i have a rather large thyroid nodule being investigated. To be honest i feel more awake after taking them - its weird. So now after the nightly shaking and sleep start jerks I have convinced myself that i may have SFI or FFI. I'm pretty understanding that its likely my psychology that is affecting my sleep but i cant shake the fear. Thoughtful clarity, and positive stories welcome - thank you.

Hi. The thing that grabbed my attention immediately was when you mentioned that you are having a thyroid nodule investigated. Hopefully it is nothing serious but it could possibly be a thyroid problem in general. I was diagnosed 12yrs ago with an overactive thyroid (minus the nodule) but the symptoms you mention are so similar to what i had. Difficulty sleeping, extreme anxiety. (these happen with overactive thyroid only). By no means am i 'diagnosing ' you as that would not be sensible but it is highly likely related to your thyroid. I know its difficult but just wait & see what they find with your thyroid & go from there. If it is thyroid they will either remove it or put you on medication & your sleep will return. Wishing you well.

Michelle, I am suspecting this may be my issue as well. I'm just ready to see my doctor and have the issue addressed. I'm so sorry to hear you've had thyroid issues - it's awful!

Thanks ameih but i'm all good now. I'm not even on meds anymore but the reality is, once you have a thyroid oroblem you have it for life. But hey, before i was diagnosed i lost a lot of weight without having to diet or exercise. (4 kilos in 5 weeks) & i was already slim. So it does have it's perks! Lol! But you're doing the right thing & waiting to see what the docs say. You will be fine, one way or the other. Please let me know the result only if you want to that is, as i do think somehow the issues you have mentioned are somehow related. But please keep in mind, i may be wrong to. Best of luck.
