Hi I have been recently diagnosed with sleep apnea.Ive had my machine 2 nights.i know its early days but just wondering.my wife says my snoring has stopped.and I get up quicker when alarm goes off.usually always call back to sleep.so must be doing somthing.problem is I still feel very tired come early evening and really struggle to stay awake.machine saying I'm having 2.9 apneas a hour.that's still waking up 16 times a night.I don't know how many I was having before I had the machine.also my voice has pretty much gone over night.it's like crackly and horse.no cold or phlem ect.does this mean i need a machine with water in it?my local hospital who deal with me basically guess my air pressure tried pressure 12 while I sat there it made me urge as first time using one.then said pressure to high.set it to 8.I assumed my sleep study would say my pressure needed.I I really down as nurse said i will feel great after 1 night use.I feel the same except from now lost my voice

Hi Dan. 2.9 is really good. Anything under 5 is pretty much o.k.You have to give it time and I think the nurse who told you everything would be great after 1 night didn't really know what he/she was talking about. You will have dry mouth for a while too which is probably the reason your voice has gone. As far as pressure is concerned set your machine to ramp up slowly. Mine starts at about 4 and then climbs up gradually. Don't be downhearted. I got my CPAP in December and am only just really getting to grips with it. Think of the benefits. Better health, heart, blood pressure etc.
