Sleep disturbance

I've  been taking magnesium every day for months now after being adviced they may help with a good nights sleep.  But I wake up practically every night and read for hours and then am tired out in the mornings and need to sleep then instead.  Bought some Kalm nights yesterday tried 2 half dose last night did sleep but felt really tired today.  Has anyone got any good recommendations for a good nights sleep that gives you a chance of a better day.

Hi Kathleen, I too have suffered terribly with lack of sleep and tried various things which just did not work until I began to add hemp protein powder to smoothies which I have for breakfast and evening meal. I have a substantial lunch with grains, fish or shellfish with nuts and seeds including a sprinkling of shelled hemp. I now sleep for roughly 7 to 9 hours and my sleep is much better quality. I have also started to lose weight which I'm really pleased about and as an added bonus my energy levels are gradually increasing.

Kathleen, Kalm nights are just Valerian root tablets. You can buy them cheaper (Ebay/Vitastore) unbranded. I find them effective but if they are making you tired next day I'd suggest a lower dose and taking them earlier. Valerian can interact with other medications so I'd check that.

Thanks I suppose one night isn't enough to know how well they will work anyway.  I'm also on morphine patches, tramadol and paracetamol plus treatment for osteoporosis

    Hi Kathleen,

I've had sleep problems for over 20 years now and still looking for a solution. Have tried all the over the counter remedies, remedies from families, bath, warm drinks and still no sleep. Pains and feeling so hot at night keeps me up. It's not menopause but I trying the breathing techniques and I am probably getting an extra hour which is about 4hrs sleep.

Hope you find a solution soon !
