hi evryone sorry not been in touch for a while I have again been struck down with a virus I feel sooooo fed up at the minute. I am really struggling to sleep during the night i.e i get 15 mins then wake up then doze off again for 30 mins and awake again and then i seem to be catching up in the day. Doc has given me tamazapam to take when i need them but i am not sure if I should take them, has anyone taken them and do you get the bad hangover effect the next day. Dont think i could cope with feeling any worse I am taking tramadol for pain but I seem to suffer with alot of the side effects (banging headaches, sweats, nausea etc) I am at my wits end any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi Nix

Its c**p when you can't sleep  I tried Temazepam and they didn't work for me. I slept but they seemed to aggravate the ME. I felt hungover on them. Of course that is just my reaction. I have found Nitrazepam works best but they are quite old fashioned and some GPs are reluctant to prescribe them because of the risk of addiction. My GP lets me have them but I don't take them every night. Mainly when desparation sets in!!

What I have found to work really well, as recommended by Katie, is Dosepulin. It is actually an anti-depressant that has a sedative effect and so far I find it works really well.

I am allergic to Tramadol, they make me puke!

I take dihydrocodiene for the joint pains and an anti-inflammatory called meloxicam. In a morning I rattle all the way to work! :P

    Hope this helps

    Hi nix

Sorry you are having such a bad time sad To not sleep is like going to hell and back .... it's bad enough having ME without suffering from lack of sleep  It's yet another delightful symptom of this illness though sad

As Dale has just mentioned, I find Dosulepin (an anti-depressant but used for pain relief and also has a sedative effect) really does help me sleep. I too use Nitrazepam occasionally as a backup ....... .

It's really a case of trial and error with medication nix, I'm afraid .... certain drugs suit certain individuals it seems. Just perhaps try half a Temezepam and see how it goes. :?

Do hope you start picking up soon ....... sad
