Sleep? What is sleep?

I have had huge problems sleeping for so long I don't actually remember sleeping properly. The doc have me sleeping tablets for a couple of weeks and they worked for a couple of days. He then put he on Mirt, first night I took then I slept twenty hours straight, with the odd open eye when prodded by my long-suffering OH. Five weeks in on 15 mirt, 30 Citalopram I sleep haphazardly. I can be wide awake two days straight (not in any way that relates to a functioning human being). I've tried ask the tricks in the books, stop eating and coffee early, warm bath, good book, no TV etc in the bedroom, wind down period ........

I've moved the time for taking my Mirt down from 10.30 to 8.30 and sleep is still a haphazard affair. Is there a sweet- spot that would get me to beef say 11ish?

Any advice greatly appreciated. Tyvm.

Sleep deprevation is my worst enemy - I had huge problems aitchelle before Mirt' which I put down to actually fear/worrying that I wouldn't sleep, it lead to anxiety and then depression ...  so like yourself, am scared to move away from Mirt' ... for now.

There is a brilliant book I have read, it's my 2nd bible ... it's called "Say Goodnight To Insomnia" by Dr Greg Jacobs.  It's a drup free programme - maybe it will help you as drugs don't seem to be the answer.

    Wishing you well.

      Hi Sheila,

My sister in Canada asked her Church congregation to pray for me, from there a church member recommended it for me here in UK  (!) - small world.  And yes, you can get it on Amazon x

Coincidence = when things occur and God chooses to remain anonymous. It's it's marvellous, we all getting them, near and far. Thank, I shall order it. I've just read some of your story and I feel humbled. All you have endured and you are reaching out to others, what a remarkable lady you are. There was poor little me feeling sorry for myself as my psoriatic arthritis is playing a game of where will the pain hit next? My pain can be controlled with drugs to a large degree, your pain must take huge amounts of forgiveness. My father in law signed out of life 13 years ago, then 2 years later my dad did the same. Their suffering must have been unbearable. The cliché time is a healer has some truth. I think you really access reserves which seemed impossible. Compassion and forgiveness and tears and trusted friends. God, whatever you conceive it to be, bless you so you can carry your ray of sunshine to others, including me xxxxxx💖

Sheila you speak from the soul which is rare these days.  In my thinking, if we all reached out to help others, suffering might cease.  Everyone is searching for happinness and love, with compassion for others we can find this at home.

I am sorry to hear of your psoriatic arthritis; I hope today will be an easier day for you and that you can enjoy the summer sunshine.

Indeed time is a healer, we must all remember that what ever brings us unhappiness, fear, dread, anxiety - can be controlled with positivity, training the mind, staying in the moment ... it may take a lifetime but it's much better than sitting in the darkness.  So we practice each day, CBT, Mindfulness, Meditation - wonderful ways to exercise the mind.

Getting a bit deep, sorry - must be time to say ttfn ! xx

      Namaste
