Hi David. Are you taking it at 8:30am or pm? I'm just wondering if you're taking it in the morning and it makes you feel tired 1hr later.. can you take it in the evening instead to help you get to sleep as it makes you tired?

I've had a prescription for this for 2 months now and I'm trying to work up the courage to take it. Mainly because of the sleep issues I know it can cause some people, sure I know we all react differently. But as it is I only get 2-3hrs sleep a night as it is, and I cant cope with getting any less!

I hope this settles down for you

Hi David, I've been on fluoxetine for a few months now and had the same issue with sleep!

Trouble falling asleep and then when I did sleep waking up ever hour or so! It really started getting to me having to cope with emotions that were all over the place and tired as well wasn't good! I remember crying at work because all I wanted to do was have a good nights sleep!

I talked to my dr about it and she suggested I try promethazine hydrochloride (phenergan), which is actually an tablet to stop hay fever, and travel sickness... The reason she gave me this is because it's not addictive. I just used it for a week or so to reset my sleep pattern and get back into that routine.

Worked a treat for me! And I felt so much better for a good sleep, helped everything else fall into place too.

    Good luck!

I battle with the same with sleeping. I'm on 20mg Fluoxetine, 1100mg Tegretol and 1 mg klonopin for sleep. I've removed almost all caffeine except am and no alcohol. Gym and exercise daily, cut out the bad foods, last meal not huge and about 4 hours before bed. I have a backup of melatonin I've thought to try but as long as I follow my routine, I can sleep pretty good. If I change, anything I end up having a bad night. You may need a sleep aid but I don't recommend klonopin as its just another drug that if you want to get off of, withdrawals can be part of what it can do. The Tegretol I take is for seizures following a TBI brain injury. You may look into the melatonin .
