Sleeping after a hip replacement

Posted , 14 users are following.

I had a hip replacement 3 weeks ago and since then every night I struggle sleeping. This probably has a lot to do with being told to sleep on my back . I haven't seen the surgeon since leaving the hospital to ask their advice, and my appointment is not for another two weeks! Any suggestions?

Actually I remember now that I was told to sleep on my back as well. But I hated it . I was afraid if I put a pillow between my knees I might toss and turn and lose the pillow and have something awful happened like a dislocation. So I got some foam, wrapped it around the knee of the surgerized leg, and secured it with two straps, like bathrobe belt. It stayed in place and everything was fine. I slept on my side and never told the doctor.
