Had a THR yesterday and all I do is sleep!   Also getting sick from the pain meds...they changed them, I'm holding off until tonight. I can't keep my eyes open 😔😔

Sleep is one of the best cures for the body, part of it could be the pain meds too. I'm sure it will sort itself out love Gill xx

Gosh only day one. Rest as when sleeping not in pain. Gradually things will improve n u maybe glad of the meds. However if sickly n drowsy they could be adjusted.

    Early days...get well soon xx

    Hi tammy,

A lot of people are unable to sleep after hip surgery so don't knock it and get as much of it as you can. As someone else has said, when you are asleep you are feeling no pain and that can't be a bad thing.

Your body does most of your healing whilst asleep so again, get as much as you can. It's very possible the pain meds are making you drowsy so again, that might be a good thing once you get home, as long as they aren't baking you unsteady on your feet. If that happens I would maybe just keep them for bedtime when you want to be drowsy.

You are on a path now to a better life. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery.

    Ali xx

    Dear Tammy,

consider yourself lucky if you can sleep from day one! You will sleep a lot more than normal in the first few weeks, but this what your body needs at the moment...it's normal!

Best of luck in your recovery

My thought has been articulated by others - if you can sleep, so much the better. It helps recovery and you wont' feel the pain. I'm dreading not being able to sleep.
