Slept with a girl I was dating who has herpes

pretty terrified right now. I slepted with a girl who I was dating and whom I really liked. She told me the day after we had sex she had herpes both I think.

I freaked out, and since then just got blood tested.

She told me that she hasn't had an out break in 4 years and hasn't infected any other partners in that time frame either. She is also on a anti viral.

I wore protection for the fist part of sex until it came to oral, then we had sex again the shower with out protection.

The doctor said the chances of me getting it are low low since she didnt appear to have any leasions. Also, that female to male contraction is also very low.

I just got back from an initial base line blood test but go back in 2 months for an aditional one.

I'm just looking for optimisim out of this and if anyone has come out of somethign similiar not contracting it. I've only had sex with her one time.

This is definitely a huge lessoned learned for me.

Hopefully this is a very low chance, I just dont have very much experience with this and hopefuly you guys can shine some light.

I aplogize for my grammar my hands are still shaking from all of this.

If she hasn't had an outbreak in 4 years and had no symtoms ... Your chances are extremely low.. Relax... Take a deep breath ...and just wait for the results to come back. Chances are you will be fine.

Don't sweat it, I'm sure you're pretty freaked out right now. Don't do that, if you worry yourself too much then you kind of force your body to show symptoms for something you don't even have. Best thing is just keep your cool and take precautions (in case you do have it, god forbid that) Your chances of getting it though are pretty low

No problem. I was in the same situation, but I didn't use protection (yeah I'm an idiot) and she wasn't taking any surpressive therapy so I wasn't lucky at all. Come to find out two weeks later I get really really sick and visit a std clinic and they tell me I tested positive for herpes. Some people are afraid to tell others, so they'd rather destroy (exaggerating a bit) someone's life without even giving them a choice.

I didnt use protection in the shower with her only in bed. So I had it on half the time.

She wasn't having an out break so I'm hoping I'm good. She states she was on suppressive therapy too.

Odds should be low, but she still should have told you before engaging in unprotected sex, or insisted upon condoms.

      Thank you!

I Know i was p*ssed when she told me, and didn't give me the option to make my own decision.

She should have told you before sex but if she has had it for a few years and didn't have a breakout then I honestly wouldn't worry yourself

Its regretful that most of us are in this boat because the person/s who transmitted the virus didn't tell us that they had it and honestly, it takes a lot to tell your partner or prospective that you are infected with the virus, I prefer to stay by myself because I live in a caribbean and we are not open and accommodating about these things. I'll be treated like like a leaper and scorned by everyone. But as an adult we all have a moral responsibility to inform our partners before, not after. Whether we think we are safe, outbreak free, or on therapy we should honest and acknowledge what we have because the virus never leaves so the risk of infection is present.

One way of avoiding this and I would advise all young persons to do is get an STD scan from your partners before having sex and of course use protection because some things are dormant and may not be detectable at the time of testing.

    Be well.
