Slightly red eyes.

Hello everyone.

My eyes have been slightly dry and gritty. Now there seems to be slight redness in both eyes. You can only see the redness when I look completely right with my left eye and completely left with my right eye. Pictures of both eyes are included? Does the redness look bad?

Thanks

The redness will be almost unnoticeable, so don't worry too much about that as far as appearance goes.

But the gritty feeling is what dry-eye does to you and it's that that's causing the redness.

If the dry-eye persists beyond a few days, it would be good to get yourself checked out as it may be a symptom of something else in the body.

Meanwhile there is a slew of drops and gels you can use to lubricate the eyes and relieve the gritty feeling. But don't use relief as an excuse not to visit the doctor if the dry eye goes on for long

I have filamental keratitis, which is severe dry eye, and I had to go through about ten different drops and gels to find those that suit me (hypoallergenic). You also may need to do a lot of trial and error.

(In my (extreme) case I use four different drops and gels.)

It is normally safe to use all the drops liberally as long as they don't contain steroids. So any steroidal drop should only be given under prescription and should be used for a limited length of time. Be very careful with these drops.

I hope it gets better soon...

Totally agree with all that 'Light' has said. This could be the start of dry eye and you can get lots of different drops from the chemist/pharmacy to help. Try "artificial tears" also called Hypromellose.

Also Light has given you excellent advice about getting checked out by your doctor.

According to me, get some eye drops from renowned brand and use it as per this prescription but if the condition continues to get worst or other symptoms come along contact eye care specialist to get the right treatment for the condition.
