Hi I recently asked if anyone had heard off or been prescribed

Slo-Phyllin ? ,I just thought I would keep everyone updated with how it went ,,,,,well it was terrible side effects began Oban same day as starting it ,,,,nausea, lack of appetite, palpitations ,sickness, and worst of all ,,,,,no sleep ,,,,and at 5 am I even sent an email to BLF asking for help,,,,as consultant had asked me to try to persevere with it even cutting down to one pill a day didn't help ,then my back went into spasm ,,,( still is ) so after 6 days of hell I decided to ring and say that was it I'm taking no more ,,,,that was yesterday and apart from my back pain ,,,,,the side effects have gone ,,,,

i think it's taught me to appreciate the days when I feel good

and healthy ( as much as you can with asthma etc etc ) and not let those days pass by without being greatful to be well ,,,,just goes to show even at 69 we can learn something ,keep well ,and thanks for your reply ,

Hi Brenda ,,,thanks for your concern ,and yes the side effects disappeared within 24 hours ,I rang the consultant nurse ,to say I had to stop ,and she agreed that I had given them a good try and they were obviously not for me ,thank god she was understanding ,I thought they might write me off as a wimp ,but my husband supported my decision and said " you can't go on like this you must stop them " he's usually the sort of person who says things like ,,," well they know best " but he saw how I was and he found it very difficult to see me getting weaker even after just a short trial ,as for my back spasm ,,,,well it's getting easier Ibrufen gel and pills are helping and I'm managing to walk around the house now so all is going well .i appreciate you taking time to make comment s they really help .

hope you are keeping well ,,,,,kindest thoughts ,

Nanny, so glad to hear the good news. I agree, that sometimes I think they are using us as Guinea pigs too. Having COPD can be a very scary thing, since we never know what to expect. One day can be very confident and feeling really great, and the next day, our lungs don't want to cooperate with us, and then we are going through some very scary stuff. It use to scare me that science could not fix our lungs, and I use to feel all alone to deal with it, but after coming onto these forums, and speaking with others, my fears have calmed way down, and are no longer there. This is why I love this forum (and other forums for COPD)..this is the only place that gives us so much comfort and support and the help we may need! I am glad to be of assistance, and so very happy that you are feeling better now! (hugs)
