Hey guys

Im diagnosed with IBS since two years ago and since this year, I have intense bloating and time to time constipation or diarrhea , unfortunately although the waste in my intestine are often soft ,there is still no push in my intestines to feel remove them, usually I have my waste removed after 3 days or a week, I donnot what I should do to make my intestine spiral movements fast..I know they move too slow.

Any food or any healthy diet that may help me I have everyday but still I got stuck in that Please tell me your experience on this issue.

Sometimes I feel desperate ..dunno what to do!

P.s. I do pilates and some Yoga everyday but it is almost no help for me...

Thanks.

    Hi Jennifer!

My husband had a similar problem. Even the prep for his colonoscopy did not work the first time and he needed to redo the prep several weeks later using the Golitly Prep ( gallon jug!!)

I wondered if his problem was his medications for diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I also wondered if his problems stemmed from neuropathy which he has in his legs and hands due to his diabetes.

After his second Colonoscopy which was successful his doctor said to take Miralax every day. He tried that, but he had no success. I suggested eating an apple each day. His regular bowel movements have been successful EVERY DAY since! 😁

Seems simple, but maybe this might help, you, too!🍎

      Thanks for reply Chery.

Ya, Ive already added apple to my diet.

I also have 'stomach reflux' which makes me to be more cautious about what I should or should not eat.

Hi. I have similar issues to yours and have suffered from constipation for years. The consultant referred me to a dietitian and to go on the fodmap diet. I went private as the waiting list was so long. I have been on it for 10 days and it is nothing short of a miracle. I go without a problem every day. I am no longer bloated and my stomach doesn’t rumble constantly anymore. I hope it lasts. Look it up.

Thanks for your suggestion Armelle, I'm not sure all the foods in that list can be helpful for me as I'm allergic to some, but with trial and error im trying finally to find the ones that may work for me.

Hi, have you heard of a redundant colon ? Basically it's when the colon is longer than normal it has more twists and loops, you find this out having a colonoscopy, in my case the colonoscopy could not be completed and ended up having a barium enema, and the end result I have an redundant colon, which in my case causes slow transit, I have IBS this may or may not be related to the redundant colon, you should maybe get more fibre check out sourdough bread and Chia seeds, chia seeds are high in fibre soak them in water for a few hours, you can check fibre and chia seeds online loads of info.

By the way, if possibly you read this post would you tell me after ur colonoscopy's result, any 'operation' was suggested to you to solve the case or you just follow a healthy diet to hopefully solve the problem??

About chia seeds, I'll try to find it and give it a shot...

Hi Jennifer, no nothing was suggested after colonoscopy or barium enema, they basically find out you don't have any sinister problems cancer etc, that's the thing about IBS it's a syndrome usually nothing to find, in my case thou mine might be down to my redundant colon, so like you say I avoid certain foods, I follow the FODMAP diet in general its pretty good, I make water kefir a very strong probiotic, eat sourdough bread, the very worse thing I could eat is onion, do you use the FODMAP diet?.

      Hi Martin,

I checked Fodmap diet but not all the foods in that chain are useful for me so if I want to follow it I have to skip some which I think not finally get the expecting result.

That's why I follow my own diet which generally includes mixing oatmeal and milk in breakfast and then one apple and some walnuts and two dates and usually one banana..

after that I have also eggs ,fried in olive oil or boiled ones..

I eat each of these foods with one hour interval so I have broken my breakfast to two or three parts...I try no to stuff my stomach, at once, with large amounts of food...

For lunch I have a 'portion size' diet ..

Some rice and occasionally chicken or fish ..

Again after two hours I eat something .

And for dinner I eat something which is simple ..

I always try to have it before 7 or 8 in the evening.

In general, I try not to keep my stomach full at night .

And if I feel hungry during the day or night after dinner

I stuff myself with fruits .

I also eat yogurt and green vegtable with my food

Like spinach , broccoli , celery or coriander...

Oh In breakfast I also use peanut butter and oat bread

U know things ive listed-of course I might have forgotten some of them to mention- in general helped me to keep the stool soft plus I drink lots of water during the day ...

The only thing gives me an urge to go to toilet is being under stress, otherwise, my intestines are slow-

U know, some everyday abrupt stress and excitement are good

Simple exercise such as walking or swimming can help your bowel to move better and eating lots of fruit and vegetables to get fibre.  However, with IBS, soluable fibre is sometimes better than insoluable fibre.  I sometimes have no desire to empty my bowel for a week or two.  Oranges, grapes, orange juice and prune juice help me.  You could also try a short term laxative. I tried Movicol for a week.  It did help but it took time to work.
