slow heart rate

hi everyone. usually I stress over having a fast heart rate but recently I was on vacation and noticed my pulse started slowing down quite a bit. when resting it goes as low as 50bpm. I'm 39 a smoker and not over weight but not in great shape. usually people that are physically fit have lower heart rates. I am on a very low dose of beta blocker but have been on that for 6 months and did not drop like this. it's causing me great anxiety and am obsessing over it because I'm worried my heart will stop. does anyone else have this problem? I'd like to know if I'm the only one or if my anxiety is causing the slow heart rate.

Generally if your heart rate is low that's a good thing athletes have 35-45 bpm. Mine is about 55 been low as 40 I would take it as a good thing in my eyes

I'm 27 don't smoke wouldn't say I'm fit just recovering from a clot. If I was you I would not worry 50 is fine but I'm no doctor if your worried about it talk to a doctor.

I have never heard of anxiety causing a low heart rate but I really wouldn't worry about it unless you are having symptoms.. passing out, being very tired etc.. normal is anything between 60 and 100 beats per minute but a heart rate of 50 at rest isn't concerning. I have had my heart rate drop as low as 26 during sleep. Literally had nurses running into my room shaking me awake but it's just normal for me.
I was diagnosed at 20 with 3 different heart arrythmias but they are all the fast kind. In the day time my heart rate is always high so I guess it makes up for it when I'm resting or asleep.
Beta blockers even at low doses can lower both blood pressure and heart rate. Even though you have been on them for 6 months without noticing a slower heart rate doesn't rule them out as being the cause.
If this is causing you great worry make an appt and discuss it with your Dr even if only for piece of mind.
