Small "distorted" spot in left eye Vision

I have noticed recently when I've been reading a book or reading something on the TV that, in a small area a letter or two will appear "twisted/distorted"...very annoying as it means I have to move my vision to a different angle to see that part of the text!

I had an eye test yesterday at Specsavers (they didn't do the field of vision test...is that normal now?) and told the optician but he said probably floaters but then said he couldn't see any in the scan that they did. There is a tiny bit of macula degeneration apparently but this hasn't got worse since my last test a year ago.

Any ideas what could be happening if the optician can't see anything?!

Try looking at text with each eye separately. Is it happening in both eyes? or only one? or only when using both eyes together. That will give you an idea which eye is the problem. I dont know why you didnt have a field test. If they are doing all other tests it seems odd.,and would probably have found the reason. It is probably connected to your macular degeneration.

I have looked at the Specsavers website and it doesnt say that Field tests are off the agenda because of Covid. You could try another opticians. I think you are probably getting free eye tests.
