Small gallbladder

Posted , 5 users are following.

Good evening

I have not had any pain just uncomfortable under my right rib, like a babies foot. Also heartburn and acid reflux

My bloods have shown a gallbladder problem, and lacking in Vit D. I have had ultrasound and MRI scan and they have said I have a small gallbladder, what would be the next step? Thank you for taking time to read this

    Hi Tracey

Did your Dr not give you any progression after the tests, I honestly wouldn't know but would of hoped the Dr would share a plan to help you.

Was a hida scan ordered? It tests ejection fraction of gallbladder and helps determine if removal would be beneficial.

Hi Heather I had an ultrasound scan and MRI scan.

I am on my 2nd year of my nursing degree and start another placement in April, so to be honest I can not have operation until after June, so fingers crossed, it does not get any worse. Thank you Tracey

Like all medical interventions, it is about quality of life. For most people here, the pain is so severe that the resolution can't come fast enough. But if you're happy to deal with the discomfort, then go with that.

The reflux and hearburn might be unrelated but could possibly be caused by the gallbladder issue. Mine was, but I didn't know that until I had it out. I've just had a bowel of Kraft macaroni and cheese for dinner... I haven't had that in years because it always gave me a bad night of acid and indigestion. Not so anymore... life is much better.

Hi Tracey, My husband is a nurse and has been sent home or just couldn't go in due to the pain. He has pain in upper right quadrant that radiates to back and sometimes shoulderblade. He also suffers awful bloating and wind. He had his scan in Dec 16 and still waiting for comformation of results even though specialists states that the gallbladder is the problem and needs to come out. We are now waiting for op date as it should be around 16 weeks from Jan. There does not seem to be any meds that work just a lie down with a hot water bottle. The speacialist says it will be keyhole surgery unless adhesions from a previous car accident is a problem then it will mean doing it the old fashioned way, meaning a few extra days in hospital. That will please him (not).

     Good Luck
