Small lump.

Hi. First time here. Dr has assured me that it is one pile but after a bowel cancer scare, I worry about anything abnormal! It is just inside my anus and no pain, itching or blood. The ointment has had no effect after 10 days or so. It could have been there for much longer, I just might not have noticed it. I did strain when I was able to have bowel movements again after the tumour was removed but usually they are quite soft. I think I panicked and overdid it in case there was another blockage. How long before they disappear? I am worried that it is not piles but the beginning of another cancer problem.  I just wish it would go away!

Hi, sorry to hear of your bowel cancer scare, I can understand how worried you must be.  If your doc has examined and knows your history then I feel sure that it is just a pile.  You are very lucky not to be in pain!  I don't know how long they take to go away as mine just don't and I'm waiting for an op.  Don't be worried about it, go back to the doc for reassurance, has he done a colonoscopy or just a manual examination?  good luck

Hi rachcj. Thanks for your reply, it did make me feel better. The Dr did a manual exam and I am to see him in about ten days if there is no change. Part of the problem is that I have had a minor skin cancer removed (clear after the third attempt,) the bowel cancer op, an infection in the wound, an incisional hernia, hundreds of spots all over my back and now the pile which is still there. It's turning me into a hypochondriac from quite a healthy and active person. I have seen a councillor too. I hope it is just a pile. Yes the Dr knows some of my history as he read my notes and I told him! He's not my usual Dr. I will just have to wait I suppose. Thanks again and I hope you get yourself sorted soon as well.

Blimey, its not surprising that you're slightly paranoid, think I would be too!  I've suffered for 19 years, since giving birth to my first son, but the severity has escalated over the last 2 years.  I struggled on, and worried, for ages as I was too embarrassed to deal with it.  Doesn't help that we live in spain so dealing with anything medical is a saga in itself!  anyway, I'm on the waiting list and hope that there are no complications, though weighing up the pain and bleeding for the rest of my life (I'm only in my early 40's) as opposed to the slight risk of anything going wrong i hope i've made the right decision.  Chin up smile

Sound to me like having the op and probably making a complete recovery is the best option. Good luck!

Saw the same Dr this morning and he is positive it is nothing worse than piles. smile not to worry about them! Quite a relief. New Dr to me and I think he is great! Even offered to go a bit further and assured me the prostate is ok too. Sympathetic about my hernia and gave me antibiotics for a boil on my bottom. (A new complaint.) And so it goes on, but I feel much better about things today. Hope you are ok.

Hey, glad to hear that you've stopped worrying.  And while he was 'there' he checked your prostate too - result!

I have my op tomorrow!!!  Kept busy all week but I'm all over the place now, very nervous.  Not done any research or surfing about the op or recovery; the recovery is what I'm most worried about, just going to go with it and hope for the best - wish me luck!!  Take care

Couldn't write any more after smiley face. Just stopped doing it for some reason. Must be quite warm up your way? All be over very soon and a new pile free life ahead of you. Keep posting if you can. Would love to know how you are doing. Another face to finish and that's probably all the computer will let me write. lol

Just to let you know that the Moderator deleted a post because they were asking about the problem writing after the smiley faces. Nothing I shouldn't have said! Hope all went/is going well. smile Try a face I did myself then.

Feeling better now? Hopefully back to about normal. I seem to be ok piles wise, just waiting to get the 3 monthly blood test to check on any cancer change. CEA test. Always a worry, even though the others have been very good. Cheers. cool
